"Be kinder to yourself than you think you should be." Jay Sennett

I'm a transguy from rural Ohio. For those of you who don't know what that means, it means that I used to be a girl but am now happily a boy, and my driver's license says so. Since I legally changed my name on March 1, I no longer feel the need to include my other name here. If you don't know, I'm not telling. I'm a pretty good poet; at least my Friends tell me I am. I'm a budding trans activist andam now a member of the Religious Society of Friends.

"There is this misbegotten notion that transmen and women are about playing dress-up and fooling people. But to be trans is to feel the truth so acutely you can't fake it. It is to be so consumed with the truth of who are that you are willing to risk everything to inhabit it. To refuse to be what other people have decided you are--this is an act of courage few individuals dare try. I know I didn't." Allison Cooper, "The One," O: The Oprah Magazine, April, 2010, p 199.

"A friend is someone who knows the song in your heart and can sing it back to you when you have forgotten the words."--unknown

"And then I would say to our sisters and brothers, 'You are members of this family and are people of great worth. God didn't make a mistake with respect to your sexual orientation. God created you because God loves you. And God will continue to love you whatever other people might say or think about you.' " Archbishop Desmond Tutu
"An Archbishop for All" by Regina Marler The Advocate, June 17, 2008, p. 51.

"The voice of God is an affirming voice. It does not reduce us or belittle us. It seeks to enhance life. It speaks on behalf of life. The voice of God speaks up on behalf of good. The practice of prayer attunes us to that voice." Desmond Tutu & Mpho Tutu. p 176. Made for Goodness.

"Ministers were to call out the gifts of others, and lovingly encourage them in faithfulness." Brian Drayton, "On Living with a Concern for Gospel Ministry," p. 176
