I know it's been a few weeks since this story was all over the headlines, but I wanted to bring this up before it gets old. I never post about topics like this, but I think it's important for people to wake up. This is not a discussion about DADT itself, but rather bill H.R.2965, know as the Don't Ask, Don't Tell Repeal Act of 2010.

First of all, words matter. I think it is important to point out that the bill to repeal Don't Ask Don't Tell is just that

"implementation of such policies and regulations is consistent with the standards of military readiness and effectiveness, unit cohesion, and military recruiting and retention."

This is the most important part to me. This is the reason it was opposed and to put this in there is to basically pass a law that will never take effect when reviewed by "the right people".

Yea I knew about this, which is why I specifically told everyone I knew in the military, don't tell them you're gay yet. Wait, I'm telling you... Wait.

However, the DOD has been ordered not process any discharges due to DADT while this is all happening. So, while it may not be an excellent idea to come out right now, if someone is reported they will hang out in a limbo of not being charged and still active, but awaiting a court marshal that will never come. So, sorry to burst your tyraid against the US, but it is effectively repealed, simply because DADT is no longer enforced.

this reminds of something else that hasn't happened yet, Gitmo is still open.
