I found this description of Duality intriguing. It places a challenge on the idea that INFJ's chiefly get along with ENTPs, ESTPs (and perhaps INTPs, and INFPs). The Dual type for us is actually ESTJs. I have always known intuitively that P's (particularly introverts) live in a completely different world than I do. Unreliability just isn't enough to describe P's. It's their entire way of life that is erratic and incompatible with mine. The compatibility of the ST and NF opposition is clear: the Sensor does not "intrude" into my Intuitive process, the Thinker keeps his boundary from my Feeling function. No wonder, one of my favorite friends is ESTJ.

Just a note: Socionics types are not exactly equivalent to MBTI. INFj in Socionics is not the same as INFJ in MBTI. The INFj in Socionics is closer to an INFP in MBTI.

I find that though ESTJs don't interfere with my Ni they also don't think it's findings have any credibility, until after years of proven successes. So if you have a decade...

This seems confusing. I took the Word-Selection test on the Socionics.com site, and it resulted me as INFJ. What are the real differences between MBTI and Socionics? Are they consequential? If so, is there a reason that I typed as INFJ in both MBTI and Socionics?

I like your experiential analysis. Perhaps this what I enjoy about my ESTJ friend... All his functions are reversed and inverse prioritized; this is explains why we intrigue each other in a compatible way. (Te Si Ne Fi) vs (Ni Fe Ti Se).

Yeah it's better to treat MBTI and Socionics as separate theories. They both use Jung's cognitive functions (or Information elements as they're called in Socionics) and also the MBTI dichotomy classifications (like: INFj, ENTp) but they also have different classifications like EII, ILE for the 16 types.

Duality is only spoken about in Socionics, it's not in MBTI. Plus in Socionics, it's gets more complicated because there are 16 different intertype relations, Quadras, Reinin dichotomies, Romance styles, and etc to take into account.

For example, I'm an LIE (or ENTj) in Socionics under the Gamma quadra but I'm INTJ in MBTI so your MBTI type doesn't always correlate to the Socionics type.

These are great sites for Socionics:

I don't know. I avoid strong ESTJs like the plague. In my experience, immature folks of those preferences tend to be controlling and I can't stand controlling. Then again, I'm a bit caught between INFJ and INTJ and it may be that my Te ordering impulse interferes with their Te. It's bad. Very bad.

Just as an FYI, an MBTI INFJ can possibly be any Socionics type as there's little to no correlation between MBTI and Socionics types. If you want to get into Socionics you'll essentially have to start over and figure out your type again.

Interesting. I find that the controlling nature of my ESTJ friend to be rather mild, and he is fairly willing to concede to my preferences. Then again, he isn't a well developed ESTJ. I actually enjoy his willingness to ask about my physical comfort in situations when we're hanging out. I find the Te to be somewhat judgmental but flexible, unlike the ISTJ, who seems unbending in many matters.
