Many of the various plane crashes in the last 30 years have indeed involved the pilots turning ridiculous circles before finally losing control, but there is no denying the possibility of a possible attempt by the Islamofascists to use their classic plane tactic. I'm not drawing anything out.

IS is usually pretty quick to claim responsibility for an attack. Let's not give credit where it isn't due until we actually know something.
I'm sure IS is loving the fact that the world jumps to the conclusion that they are responsible for tragedies like this. Not ruling it out, but let's wait and see.

I always fail to understand this logic. Does it matter if they are narcissists? I am pretty sure they have worse personality traits going for them if we were to examine their crimes against humanity over the last 365 days. I think we should be constantly aware and cautious about ANY possibility, INCLUDING IS being responsible or it.

And to be perfectly honest, I don't think blaming a failed attack (if it was an attack, the crew must have fought to stop it reaching the target destination similar to Flight 93) on IS is 'giving them credit where it is due' - they deserve no credit, but they do deserve the blame.

But the whole point of terrorism is to instill terror. So it's working. People will be afraid to fly for a time because people are prematurely attributing this to IS.
It may be IS, I'm sure there are very competent people looking into it. And of course, there's that thing about IS not claiming this yet.
So let's not get our panties in a bunch just yet.

Pointing out the facts should be done, regardless of the fear it might cause to some people. Most people will be going about their daily lives regardless of the terror alert. It has been this way for years, and all we can do is tell other people that Islamic ideology cannot be legitimized under any circumstances; this is what breeds terrorism. If we remain complicit by saying nothing of these anti-human scum-bags, then what will our strategy be? Let them murder unopposed? We HAVE to oppose them by pointing them out and bringing them into the spotlight. I wish people would stop downplaying terrorism whilst simultaneously wishing for it to be less frequent by suggesting we shut up about it.

Back to the topic: I am still on the fence about the crash, but I am sure we will know everything once the flight recorder (black box) is retrieved from the wreckage.

Yeah I think people are pretty much saying it is a terrorist attack now from what I have seen on the news sites:
"the doomed flight was more likely brought down by a terror attack than technical problems, Egypt’s aviation minister said."

I always wonder where this faith in competent [government] individuals looking into things comes from.

Because if we start questioning our government, they point you toward the stall where they're handing out free tin-foil hats and assume you believe all sorts of other crazy things.

I don't really understand the point of downing a plane. In fact, I never really understood the point of instilling fear from a terrorist's perspective. Really, what is it going to accomplish? What good is making the world fear going to do? It has no clear objective, except maybe some kind of visceral outlet for the organization's psychopathic tendencies. But then, it's rather convenient to paint an enemy as a mindless killing machine, isn't it? From the perspective of a government who may have aspirations to gain tighter control over its citizens, the benefits of having an enemy like that is a bouquet of roses.

As for the plane itself and to answer your original question, I dunno. Somebody's gotta go in there and figure out what happened. Somebody with credentials and official clearance, preferably. Whether you believe what is reported afterwards is a matter of your personal filter. Unless you're some kind of aviation expert or witnessed the whole thing first hand, what you're presented with is all you have to go on.

Yeah, lol, an aviation expert I am not! And for the most part I don't find myself with the group largely labelled as the tinfoil hat crowd. However, I was responding to a post which suggested we "not get our knickers in a knot" and basically trust the government authorities to do their thing. I think not getting knickers in a knot kind of applies to things like dry cleaning not being ready in time or burned casserole. When planes start falling out the sky, well, people get upset. It's more than bunched knickers. And as far as these crashes go, there is an amount of healthy skepticism about what information is released to the public regarding missing/downed planes. However, you are correct, someone has to go in there and do their thing and release some kind of statement to the public. And yeah, this does have to fall into the lap of aviation officials employed by various governments, not for example the troofers.

They won't understand the danger until they have bayonets pointed at their throats.
