Here's five of mine:

Certain Women (2016): The lives of three women intersect in small-town America, where each is imperfectly blazing a trail.

Starring: Laura Dern, Michelle Williams, Kristen Stewart

The Witch (2015): New England in the 1630s: William and Katherine lead a devout Christian life with five children, homesteading on the edge of an impassable wilderness. When their newborn son vanishes and crops fail, the family turns on one another. Beyond their worst fears, a supernatural evil lurks in the nearby wood.

Starring: Anya Taylor-Joy, Ralph Ineson, Kate Dickie

Carol (2015): In 1950s New York, a department-store clerk who dreams of a better life falls for an older, married woman.

Starring: Cate Blanchett, Rooney Mara, Kyle Chandler

Stations of the Cross (Kreuzweg) (2014): Maria finds herself caught between two worlds. At school this 14-year-old girl has all the typical teenage interests, but when she’s at home with her family she follows the teachings of the Society of St. Pius XII and their traditionalist interpretation of Catholicism. Everything that Maria thinks and does must be examined before God. And since the Lord is a strict shepherd, she lives in constant fear of committing some misconduct…

Starring: Lucie Aron, Moritz Knap, Lea van Acken

Ida (2013): Poland, 1962. Anna is a novice, an orphan brought up by nuns in a convent. Before she takes her vows, she is determined to see Wanda, her only living relative. Wanda tells Anna that Anna is Jewish. Both women embark on a journey not only to discover their tragic family story, but who they really are and where they belong, questioning their religions and beliefs.

Starring: Agata Kulesza, Agata Trzebuchowska, Dawid Ogrodnik
