I've been thinking about my favorite games ever since there was the discussion on Final Fantasy. RPGs were my first love so I'd like to see what other people have to say.

Here are a few of my personal favorites:

Suikoden II

Legend of Dragoon
Earthbound
Baldur's Gate II

My top 5, in no particular order are:

Planescape:Torment
Ultima 5
Icewind Dale 2
Fallout
Morrowind

Hands down Final Fantasy Tactics, I added so much more to the RPG experience by putting you incontrol of basicly everything. It even had very basic(very) morality system. It may have had little real affect on the game, but it was the beginning of what is now a staple of any western RPG.

I'll follow that with Mario RPG, it was an my early experience to the genre.

Ultima 5
Icewind Dale 2
Fallout
Morrowind

The last three are awesome!
I would have to add Secret of Mana as well.

SNES: chrono trigger
FFIII
zelda link to the past
earthbound (repeat i know, but a must have for any rpg fan)

n64: zelda majoras mask (arguably the best zelda imo)

KOTOR II

It's probably the only RPG I've ever played but I still think it's awesome. Might even replay it this summer.

Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross were pretty awesome.

As for Zelda, I've always thought Ocarina of Time was amazing. I was going to put it on my list but I couldn't decide if it was actually an RPG or just an adventure game with basic RPG elements.

Heh heh...
I do tabletop RPGs. Firefly, to be specific ;)

KOTOR II

I've played both pretty extensively. I hated my first run through of KOTOR II because at the end I figured out I COULD HAVE JUST KILLED THEM IN THE BEGINNING!

oblivion
fallout 3
kotor
star wars saga edition d20 (table top rpg)

I play a lot of DnD 3.5. I've also dabbled in Star Wars and Vampire: The Masquerade.

Firefly is awesome!

Secret of Mana
Chrono Trigger
Final Fantasy VI & VII
Most of the Zelda games
Vagrant Story
Most of the Breath of Fire games
The Mario and Luigi games (Superstar Saga, etc.)
Phantasy Star Online
Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door
Suikoden (1 and 2)

Games that aren't really RPGs as such, but have lots of RPG-ish elements:
The Shenmue games
Odin Sphere
Shadow of the Colossus
The Metroid games

Tabletop RPGs: Warhammer Quest

Panzer Dragoon Saga
Deus Ex
Planescape: Torment

And c'mon people, show some love for Deus Ex! It should not be forgotten.

oh goodie goodie... :m200:

The essential classics:
- Fallout (I liked the second installment most)
- Baldur's gate (both of them)

Modern titles:
- Star Wars Kotor
- Mass Effect
- Fahrenheit (don't know if it counts as RPG)

JRPG:
- Final Fantasy VIII, X, X-2

So many good games. /dies

Table Top Dark Sun and the computer games DS 1 and DS 2.

Al Quadim the computer game was pretty cool as well.

I like most any D&D or AD&D game but I really like the Dragonlance Campaign.

Forgot to mention my 2 favs Torment and Fallout Tactics.

All of these. I also like the Dark Cloud series.

playing my way through Dragon Age origin atm

Dragon Age has some right and nasty choices in it, not bad at all. Was a little disappointed with their choice of microtrans integration techniques, but otherwise a good game.

Turns out one of my D&D friends from middle school is now a lead designer on a lot of D&D CRPGs. I thought the plots sounded familiar. He did Mask of the Betrayer, which I liked.

Chaz, Deus Ex is awesome, but I always put that in the hybrid intelligent shooter category, along with System Shock 1 and Thief 1 and 2.

As you can tell with my current avatar, Thief is basically my favorite game of all time. If you count that as an RPG, its my favorite by a long shot.
