Ever since I was a kid my mom and aunt took me to get a hearing test, though I could hardly remember much of it. However, years later during high school I wanted to join the Marines, but needed a medical evaluation by the military. Which I took and passed all the tests except for the hearing test. They determined that I have a hearing loss on both ears and recommended that I get tested with a civilian doctor.
After my testing with the audiologist they also determined I have progressive hearing loss and that I couldn’t hear high frequency sound. In the end they recommend that I get hearing aids.
The biggest barrier is the cost of them. As I was told they can range from $1K to $3K+ for just one. Since I needed two the cost would double.
As of now I’m leaning towards Costco brand and might go that route.
My questions are:
Does anyone else wear hearing aids or know someone that does?
How much did they cost? Does your insurance cover them?
Any other advice or suggestions?
