I just saw this movie last night, and it seemed of interest to INs. In this movie, time is the only currency, and the poor are the only ones who run, and take risks. They have no time to waste. They can see exactly how many hours are left in their life at any given second. They are obsessed with the numbers. It reminded me of how I try to live my life, why I try to cut to the chase, and get impatient with people who purposely waste my time. I rarely play online games, or watch t.v., because they are time drains. Small talk: time drain. I can be rather militant about it.

My daughter has taken up the phrase, "Plenty of time for talking tomorrow..." I always say, "You have no way to know that. We could be dead tomorrow." There is no sense of urgency for her, and perhaps too much from me.

It looks good, but I generally wait for the dvd release to watch at my leisure. I'll have to check it out then. Thematically, it seems to be addressing: Memento mori

"For a few to be immortal, many must die."

On the other hand, sometimes it's relaxing (and a relief) to ditz out.

Yes. Others must teach me this "relaxation." I know not of it.

Practicing Mindfulness is one way of learning how to relax. You end up being more in the moment.

In the case you describe with your daughter, by being more present you might have been able to have extra dialogue and appreciate the fact she is forming her own opinions. Or something along those lines.

I know you get what I'm saying. :)

...just one perspective.

Yes. I think I take the responsibility of preventing her from making grave mistakes too seriously. I want her to be a good, thoughtful person. She is 10, now, and is not where I wish she would be, and I am trying to correct her mannerisms. I am the only tough love she gets, so it causes me to be less compassionate, or lighthearted than I have been in the past. I just want to teach her what I have learned, and I fear all she gets from her other influences are greed, materialism, and self absorbtion. I take raising a person very seriously, and don't intend to be doing a disservice to the human race.

I can't watch the trailer right now because I'm at school and didn't bring headphones, but I'll check it out as soon as I get home.

I would pay money to be able to use time wisely.

Interesting. I think I may actually venture into civilization to see this.

i just watched a low quality version of this movie in the comfort of my friend's home :D

it was like an awesome video game

one where everybody in it was hot on account of not being able to cast old people

:) Yep that's what I thought too. I kind of liked it although the romance felt a little...vacant.

Nice preview! I remember one of the actors from tv series Angel, his son Connor... I don't remember his real name.
I will have to watch this :) Looks very interesting.
