The latter might be regarded as the normal case, since there is a general tendency of this type to confine himself to the perceptive character of intuition.

By this definition, I assume most of us are cranks

Does he mean a "cranky person"? Or perhaps someone prone to moodiness or melancholy? Not inaccurate...
 
Nah he means if you don't use your judging function and let your intuition run wild you'll be crazy.
