So unfortunately I completely missed the season in Oklahoma. Luckily when I was visiting my father in Kansas, I was able to go out with him and we brought home 144 morels. and no these are not hallucinogenic.
that is so cool. i am jealous. i've always wanted to go hunting, but i don't know what i'm doing. i am also not a fast hiker, so i wouldn't want to slow down a group or get ditched.
christmas, We ate them cooked in a pan with butter. Add a dash of salt or so to your taste. Look up the season for your area, see if there is a Facebook group for your state. There is for Kansas and Oklahoma. Find out where people are finding them. What type of trees and other foliage. Ask about land structure as well. Valleys, hills, what side of hills, etc. Also you want to go slow because they are easy to miss. My father and I were both helping each other not miss any and we probably still did.
these dont exist in my country and ive never seen them until i saw your photos. i have heard the word "morels" before though. what do they taste like? i find their appearance unappetising.
invisible, They have an earthy and nutty flavor and buttery of course! They are delicious and you might want to double check if they have them there because they are worth it.
thanks, looks like they do exist here. i cant believe i have never seen them because i love mushrooms. hunting them sounds fun and i will have to plan a weekend away to find them.
