This isn't much of a political news / discussion as it is a discussion about discussion. Meta! \o/
So after one too many political / sociopolitical discussion, which later turned into arguments, later debates, and later ad hominems, I admit I'm finding myself a little bit....surprised. Why the enthusiasm? Facebook, news blogs, even this forum (look at this subforum and notice how new topics are sprouting day by day. It's starting to take over Emotional Support and Advices!)
Background drop; I (and by extension my entire family) are politically apathetic. Of course, different cultures; there's actually a little sense of (American lingo) Left and Right, or Red or Blue here; what we have is essentially. Right and More Right than Thou. We have lots and lots and lots of parties, and each has their own colors, presidents, and such. Later, they will form a coalition. Our politics are fundamentally fore mucked up compared to yours. Yeeees, sir. We even have a special team made to eradicate corruption, and -that- team is also breached. We mostly choose to 'adapt'; my father will chose the one who won't hurt him or his business the most, parties be damned. I just voted for the previous / current president because I feel he's doing a good job. Not because of what he espouses / what he's planning to do / who he's having an affair with / what sort of scandals he had.
Totally not passionate, compared to how many Americans would act, say, and prepared to defend their choices. I understand the problem is in me, and I am not intending to defend it, what I'm curious is; why? Why do some people protect their candidates -- and their choices, and their plans, and their/ their spouses' fashion sense if needed be? Why do people -- you, he, she, Republicans, Democrats, Greens, etc, etc -- care so much?
I realized back then that politics are essentially, playing with human hearts*. Is that the case and is that what affects the enthusiasm? that people are trying to protect what's 'right' for them, and by extension, their hearts*?
*) What. hearts? POLITICS IS NOT ROMANC-- no, yes; no it isn't, but to think about it, people chose to vote for a political party, it's mostly due to having a similar if not the same take on many things, which return to value, honor, and morality, and in a sense, 'heart'. Even if in a most pragmatic sense possible a.k.a my father, "I vote those who won't disturb me." It's essentially to protect you and your family ; and in a sense, that too is related to 'heart', no?
Anyway, just a rambling from a walking brownies. Am I making any sense, even?
