ReGifting

Ever got a regift or regifted something to someone? Is it ok to regift or is it unforgivable?

There was a fondue set that came back at christmas every year for almost 10 years at the family exchange. Every year someone knew they were going to get it but nobody knew how or when it was going to land. The suspense was fantastic.

I have not. I think it depends on the gift. If it's something that is utilitarian and impersonal, it's probably okay to re-gift, especially if you already have it or something better.

Now, I wouldn't go to a garage sale and pick up gifts but a box gift (utilitarian in design) does seem like fair game. I just don't know if it takes away from the value of the gift on a personal level. As an INFJ, I always believe that it should be personal. Should there be a personal note and card that makes it.... more?
