This is really no contest. I can take any Progressive Rock band and demonstrate the "perfect album" if you like.

1. Rush - 2112. Features a full-album-length cover track about a dystopian future ruled by a class of Priests that outlawed music, creativity and self expression.

2. Symphony X - The Odyssey. The entire album is a bunch of mythological/fantasy stories, with the title track being Homer's "The Odyssey".

3. Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime. An entire album about a drug addict who joins a revolution against the corrupt society.

4. The Who - Tommy. C'mon, really? Who doesn't know this one?? A Rock Opera about a deaf, dumb and blind boy who can play a "mean pinball".

5. The Beatles - Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. Yep. This. Album. Regardless of what you think of the Beatles, the fact that they created an entire album about a fictional band that allowed them to experiment in every way possible with their own music is genius.
