    They're not terrible, but they aren't the most competitive. SF state and Berkeley are pretty competitive schools. My undergrad gpa was something like 3.01. Also, I may be bad at writing personal statements. I didn't get any advice with mine, and they're a pretty important part of the application process. My undergrad degree was in social work, and I have a few years of relevant job experience. Those are my main strengths. What are you studying?

    I'm hoping to get into Humboldt State University. It is in Arcata, which is the most northwestern part of California on the coast. I applied for the social work graduate program. They emphasize working with American Indians. Humboldt is where I want to go the most, but they are also my last resort. I'm on a waitlist at Berkeley, and I got rejected by San Francisco State. =P

    Being able to speak, and more specifically, to type in a Scandinavian language was a bit suggestive! Are you here just to travel, or are you working/going to school?
    Whatever, stalker. I live in San Bernardino, which is the county neighboring LA county. Don't worry about offending me. I hate it down here, mainly because it's hot, ugly and crowded. Northern California is way nicer. If you come out this way, I would suggest visiting San Francisco as opposed to any other big cities.
