    I don't explain it well, sorry... um, I mean when looked from aside, in silhouette. The old shoes used to be more flat, like that: |_

    now they are not that sharply turned from leg towards foot , there's no clear angle. Almost as if there's no foot. I guess it makes girls' feet look smaller, and that's why it's cute. But now boys wear such shoes too, especially in skating and free runners.
