After six years of classes, immersing myself in it, and using it all the time.
I was actually originally going to either be a Spanish teacher or teach in Spanish in another country, so I just threw myself wholeheartedly into it. It's a career path I still wish I'd continued with, from time to time. I put a lot of time and energy into it.
