Yup, those were my thoughts. The whodunnit quest was particularly brilliant. There were also quite a few surprises that I didn't see coming.
I'm not sure if you've played Skyrim, but the plot twists in The Brotherhood and Thieves Guild were obvious. You know the second you meet Mercer that he's going to betray you.

Never thought of it; been a while since I've played Oblivion.
I preferred it to Skyrim, mainly because the guild quests were much more interesting and fun.
