We are living in troubled times. There is always evil in the world, but sometimes it is worse than others. It seems to come in waves in history, and another wave is growing and sweeping around the globe. It is an ideological war that must be fought on many different fronts, because many different groups are threatened.
I would like to introduce this forum to two significant people, who I strongly suspect are about to play a major role in history. The following is an interview of Rabbi Brous by Ashley Jackson. The topic is how faith drives the passion for social justice. There is about five minutes of news before the interview kicks in. You are all pattern watchers--watch this interview and see if it fits into patterns you've been noticing.
Rabbi Brous: "If you really believe that every human being is precious, and every life is sacred, that can't mean that only every Jewish life is sacred. And it can't mean that every Palestinian life is sacred but don't tell me about the Jews. And if your heart only breaks about one but not the other, then you are not truly a humanitarian."
The first person is Ashley Jackson, daughter of Jesse Jackson, of blessed memory. She has certainly followed in her father's footsteps, and is an activist for social justice causes. Just this past June 12, Ashley became a new addition to the Tribe--as soon as I heard, I emailed her a welcome to the family.
As you all know, INFJ's do not think in a linear fashion the way most people do. Instead, we process reality through patterns. Here is the pattern: When the need is great, a leader will arise. I have been waiting for this person. I don't know if Ashley is that individual, but I know that if she wants the microphone, she has it.
As for Rabbi Sharon Brous, every time I turn around, I find myself at Ikar, the Los Angeles Jewish community that she founded. Articles I read. Video links friends send me. People I run into at events. Really uncanny coincidences like a dear friend's daughter's husband sits on the board. There are a half dozen topics that I keep close watch on, and all of them intersect at Ikar. When I found out that it was Rabbi Brous who managed Ashley's conversion, I spent the next half minute pacing the floor using the F word because it was so incredible that I couldn't believe what I just read. Ikar. AGAIN. What is the pattern? There are always going to be gatekeepers. Right now, all roads run through Ikar.
I could be completely wrong. Sometimes we sense patterns when no pattern is there. But keep your eyes and ears open for these two.
