I certainly agree with you that walking into idiotic traps is best avoided. But why do you feel as if women are trying to gain control of you if they show affection? Not all affection is emotional manipulation. People can be genuine in their care. (Aren't you genuine, after all?)

Most of it is a transaction. Whenever I'm caring I always do more, most girls just tried to use my kindness against me.
