Does understanding lead to tolerance?

The better question is why the word intolerance is somehow connected to prejudice?
Because they go hand in hand. Sure you *can* have one without the other, but most of the time you get both at once. Hell you can't tell someone is predjudiced if they never show it with intollerant statements, so how can we quantify those people, know they exist? We might know a few personally, but we see waaaay more people who are both prejudiced and intolerant at once. As for people who are just intollerant, they can look pretty prejudiced ei. "Get off my lawn!"
