How can I become more like an INTJ?

Where do I begin... Firstly, I see you're new to the forum so hello and welcome. :)

As for INTJ's being smarter, that is an illogical and naive approach to MBTI, but nonetheless I'm happy to play along. :tonguewink:

The INTJ's I know irl can be absolutely unbearable to be around, and the ones I have interacted with on forums aren't much different and here's why.

- Fragile egos. They are always right and you are always wrong. Don't believe me? Try challenging one.

- Highly judgemental as in if you cross paths with an archetypal INTJ and you happen to be on their radar, you've been judged and likely not in a positive way.

- Usually very low self esteem which if not controlled will lead to laser beams of projection and if you're the target gtf outta the way. In fact regardless of whether or not they have self esteem issues, if you've pissed one off gtf outta their way.

There is more, however I wanted to hone in on your first sentence regarding intelligence. Any "type" can be intelligent, but if we were to compare INTJ's intelligence to an true INTP, the INTP is more intelligent, full stop.

Also keep in mind there are countless people who mistype themselves everyday and while MBTI is a very useful indicator, it isn't science.

PS- From my experience INTJ's have major hardons for INFJ's. Why? Because we're fucking unicorns of course, and who in their right mind can resist that?

That's actually a great question. I have seen many memes showing intjs battling it out over the chess board whether it be against death or a nemesis. I do feel sometimes as if it's a chess game when trying to accomplish things that have to involve other people. However life in general? No. Life isn't a game that can be won or lost. Every person born suffers the same fate. The poorest pauper, the richest fat cat, the most despised, the most loved. The game ends the same way for everyone. Maneuver, plot and plan how you like, the end is always the same.

Easy: if you want to "think" like intj, you should start planning world domination. If you want to "feel" like intj you should start "feeling" less about people and more about yourself. If you what to be successful, you should start thinking about (1) how you ideas can affect the real world and not just keep it in your head (2) implementation of ideas (3) consistency (3) getting short term goals and executing (don't ever bail out). Doesn't matter which type you are.

Intjs are the most independent and stubborn, there is no way to make them bail out from what they put their mind in.

Im a broken intj (extroverted, as shadow feature, I got entpied), my Fi got turned low and my Fe high. I worry about people and seek external validation more than a pure intj would do. So I can assure you that you are not stuck to one personality type. It took me 5 years 5 months to be broken and become more flexible, the cause wasn't internal, it was a situation I was forced to live in. In your case I don't know how long it will take you to make intj your enterprise personality while you maintain infj as your core type, if you want to make the change forcefully, you can. And it'd be rewarding to be more flexible and not stuck at not personality type.

I think our inevitable physical death may or may not be the end. We'll find out, or not. To me? It makes sense to try to make the journey to that discovery, as good as we can. For everybody.

And in that time? We try to contribute to building something better for those who follow. My son's ? They've no idea what it was like before the internet. I didn't have a color tv until I was 15. But I had a library card. It was better than the tv even today.

My dad was an INTJ. He married an infj. He was brilliant. So are plenty of intj that I've known. Its not the type it's the person. But I think you're probably right on intp. They just often don't utilise it.

If you've seen arrow, he was broken in the island and came back different (his mibt personality type changed). He had a hard time in the island and was forced to act differently and to see other perspectives. Like i said in my previous post, the "change" (not really change, just learning to use another personality type as well as your core type) has higher possibility of happening if it is provoked by an external cause. If its internal (YOU wanting to "change"), you can in some way, act like another personality type, but it wouldn't be as total as a change provoked by a certain situation you were forced to live in. For example, a persistent situation can make you develop feelings for the things around you as well as make you loose interest in things around you anD focus more on yourself. But if you make a deliberate decision to focus more on yourself or on the things around you without really being forced to do so (against your will), the feeling wouldn't be genuine, it'd be FAKE. To clarify, the difference between intj and infj is not just the T and F, its the intjs uses Fi which makes their willpower very strong as they only answers to themselves while the infjs uses Fe which makes them require external validation (and a good reason to do a thing for how it would benefit people). intj would be more interested in what they want.

Now to answer your question, how i got broken. I had to live in a situation in which the only viable strategy was to give up my Fi. I thought it made me more T than F but I've always been T. I later realize i got my Fe developed and Fi suppressed. So now im an Fe intj its so frustrating. Though i can still make use of some Fi left, i still check my surroundings and tell my close ones about my project before i carry on with it. If its crucial then i carry on even without their endorsement (still got some Fi left). Sorry i can't give details of the circumstances of my crucible but it would be of no help. arrows is way more elaborated and besides, there is a personal crucible for everyone (it would be a life changing situation you'd give anything to avoid).

This sounds terrible, I'm so sorry you had to go through that horrific experience (I can only imagine). I suspect you are still an INTJ but have PTSD and trauma which drive exceptions in how you function. Trauma at an early age causes transformation at a later age it can be very destructive. I hope you have access to some good therapists and doctors that can help you. I'm sure you are a strong person if you have survived this, but the impact of such things should never be handled alone, you have value and are important.

Thanks a lot for your concern, i actually force myself to be self conscious about PTS, and i have lots of good people in my life (still want more, i was told i could find some in infj forum thats how i got here in the first place)

You know, that comment of yours is what i truly adore about infj and similar type: *show deep and true concern*. We Ts cares but a different way.

I would recommend our friend that started this tread to do deep research on his personality type and how to improve himself personally and make an impact with his unique qualities instead of wanting to change type. Its ok to feel inspired by someone else though.

actually Im inspired by my infj interest who is currently holding a record in her category in athletics here in spain and studies and the same time and pases with good grades.
 
I too have admired the intelligence of the almighty INTJ but the world would be a very mundane place without personality variety. Everyone has strengths and weaknesses and it's about developing your strengths. You're likely to fail trying to be something you're not. And honestly, we value authenticity so chances are you're not going to be happy trying to masquerade as another type.

Also, I don't think success is based on personality type. I have built a business alongside my ISTJ hubby and together we have joined forces as a power duo sharing our strengths to further our entrepreneurial desires. Make your work something you value and not just something to be idolized by others. You'll never be happy with that.
 
It sounds like you want to know how to be intelligent, which has nothing whatsoever to do with ones personality type.

Firstly that's incorrect. I take an interest in world events. Unfortunately like everyone I cannot be in two places at once (unless you take into account the holographic universe theory may be law) much less many multiples. Therefore I cannot experience all happenings at once. This makes it necessary to get information where and when I can. So yes, I do listen to the news and base some of my conclusions on the information provided by the news.

Ayy, das meee, I'm smurt!

*Ahem* Seriously though, personality does not equal intelligence, it references behavior patterns. As Phantom mentioned, INTJs have some glaring weaknesses due to some typical behavior, but all types have strengths and weaknesses to them. I now view someone's personality type like a starting line. As an INTP, I've had to work on Interpersonal Intelligence (understanding others and their emotions) quite a bit. I work on this Interpersonal Intelligence because I'm not as accustomed to dealing with people as I am at solving logic puzzles, reading books, etc.. An INFJ probably would not have to put in as much work on understanding people as I have had to (Though they're Introverts, they understand people better due to their primary method of using Emotion to understand and make choices in the world).

Howard Gardner proposed a theory of multiple intelligences. Turns out that IQ isn't the only form of intelligence (a big sad face for INTP's, as on average, we're the type that does best at IQ tests), and you can take a quick, simplified look at what I mean here: http://fundersandfounders.com/9-types-of-intelligence/

As for changing your personality type: We are a reflection of nature and nurture. In other words, our genetics and environment creates our personality... in other words, if you spend enough time around an INTJ, their personality rubs off on you. The same goes for if you're constantly in an environment where you need to make logical decisions over emotional ones. I'm not going to say if such an environment is good for you or not, as that's your choice.

The INTJs main purpose in life is to plan world domination. To become more like an INTJ, you should get out of the way and let them do their job. Wink wink.

On a serious note, YOU cannot become more like an INTJ.... you should be who you are and not be something you are not??? Why on earth would you want to be like an INTJ when you identify as an INFJ? You are an INFJ! Lol. Nothing wrong with that!

I think that measuring yourself directly against others (i.e. other MBTI types) and how you perceive them to be superior isn't a healthy approach. If you try to copy them you're liable to just end up frustrated.

The biggest favor you can do for yourself is to be yourself. Identify, embrace and enhance your strengths, and be cognizant of how your weaknesses can trip you up. Become comfortable with what makes you unique, and you'll be happier, healthier and more productive.
