Is progress possible in art?

I've always thought art was progressive by nature. It seems to generally appeal to liberal types more than conservative. Although conservative types seem to enjoy the beauty in utilitarianism. Except for Hitler liked art once upon a time, was he progressive? Weird how I think of it in political terms.

Yeah, what I thought.

Art isn't about progress (as a movement); it isn't linear.

It should expand and deepen. Breadth and depth.

I'm not sure what art is about. But this isn't the question I was asking. You replied "it's a bad idea", but why?
