Not only does that story sound like utter bullshit, but misplacing a loaded weapon is inexcusable under ANY circumstance. Period.

This story reeks of bullshit. Why put it in the glovebox? Where did he normally store his weapon? Why does he hide it from his younger sibling? If he were to be a police officer, would he still feel some inexplicable shame for carrying a weapon in view of his younger sibling?

Liar. Complete bullshit.
 
No one carrying a weapon for their work needs to go to the range in their spare time - it's paid for by their employer, especially cops. Going to the shooting range with a buddy on your day off doesn't exactly sound like a "professional" use for the weapon either.
 
It's pretty specific. And reasonable if you ask me.

All firearms transported into/through the State of New Jersey:

Shall be carried unloaded and contained in a closed and fastened case, gunbox, securely tied package, or locked in the trunk of the automobile in which it is being transported, and in the course of travel, shall include only such deviations as are reasonably necessary under the circumstances.

The firearm should not be directly accessible from the passenger compartment of the vehicle. If the vehicle does not have a compartment separate from the passenger compartment, the firearm and ammunition must be in a locked container other than the vehicle's glove compartment or console.

And here's a good question: why was it loaded? He wasn't working in his garage. A 'loaded' gun shouldn't be anywhere in an automobile, per nj law. He knew this.

A felony seems a bit harsh for just carrying a loaded weapon in the glovebox. I think he was foolish, it's a foolish thing to do and it deserves a penalty. I don't think the law is unreasonable but a felony carries lifetime consequences. He wasn't being violent.

Ha ha ha ha ha..... now,I find these responses to be completely ...not well thought out.
Still I did not ask for opinions of which I do not agree with most that have been left here. Only consideration to sign. Hey if you think this guys life needs to be ruined just because he was carrying around a loaded weapon so be it. Better hope you never make a life altering mistake yourself though because people will be as unforgiving as you.
