This used to scare the sh*t out of me as a kid. What the hell was wrong with these animators? It's from Dot & the Kangaroo, a fairly tame children's video series otherwise.
Then of course, there was the 1970's Watership Down animated feature. My mama probably thought, "awww, bunnies!" and decided that was tame enough to show to a four year old. In fact, I found a youtube video that succinctly demonstrated why this movie was not for children.
