Why is the Swedish Film Institute a state-funded organization? It sounds like the makings of a propaganda machine rather than a useful public service.

Wimmanz, I wonder how you found that article.

On topic: No, I don't.

Wow how dangerous! I haven't thought about it untill you mentioned it :|

The operations of the SFI are regulated by an agreement between the state on one side, and the film and television industry on the other.

"The Institute is financed by grants from the state as well as by a levy on cinema tickets. The funding agreement is based on the principle that those who exhibit films should contribute to the financing of new Swedish films. "

ITS A RUNNING PROPAGANDA MACHINE, how have I not been AWARE of this BEFORE?!?!?!
Not to imply that I know any significant amount about it, but I doubt that it's quite there yet. I just think that funding setup has the makings of a propaganda machine, and is very likely to become one eventually.

No it is basically a full-blown propaganda machine I just haven't been able to see it before.

I told my mother "its a propaganda machine" and she simply said "yes I know". My reaction was of course "WHAT?!?". However, how somebody can live in line with it? :S:S

no

Anyone who disagrees seriously needs to rethink their priorites and values.

Could the people who vote 'yes' also explain why they did?
I can understand the 'no' votes, but I can't see why it should be funded by the taxpayers, so enlighten me. :m054:

I would say yes, but then I saw the word feminist, which ofc implies unattractive hairy lesbos with strap-ons, and then I have to say no.
