I would do a poll but people would just vote and leave.

I was wondering which one you guys liked the most and why.

I used to use ventrillo, but then came across the TS3 client and I have LOVED TS ever since. The earlier TS clients paled in comparison to ventrillo, but the TS3 may be just as good or even better.

The one thing I miss from Vent is not having to make a bind to

Mumble all the way. I've never known a VoIP program make everyone so clear. It's better than a fricking phone call. It's also easy to use, takes very little resources, and puts a nice little overlay into your programs which flashes who's talking.

Servers are also cheaper.

Seriously, look into Mumble, it's only 3 months old and a lot of people are converting to it.

Well mumble has been out for awhile. Looking at something from 2009 O.O

But WOW. Chaz, thank you so much. I may host mumble instead of Teamspeak or Vent. O.O

Latest release I mean, which is 1.2.3

Does Mumble let you host and connect to anyones IP address like RW does?

My issue with mumble is that it’s a great voice client, but it’s not so intuitive for chatting.

I like Teamspeak because it has a simple

<Time>Username: <text>

Then we have a global chat and a channel chat.

The one thing I don’t like about Teamspeak is the lack of whisper functionality. You have to set up a bind for each person you wish to whisper to (from my knowledge so far) instead of being able to just easily chat with one person.

I haven't tried Mumble yet, but it sounds very nice from all the comments!

As far as voice quality, chat system, and overall performance I would rate TS3 over Ventrilo.
I find its voice quality to be clearer and the chat system more intuitive than Ventrilo's. However, performance-wise they both seem to be the same.

I prefer Ventrilo for moderating and security. I prefer Teamspeak for looks and easy access. Overall Teamspeak wins with the most amount of pro's over con's since I can have it for free, up to 512 slots, on my own server, whereas with Ventrilo I have to pay an outrageous monthly fee and I don't even get to keep it on my own server.

Mumble is just another VoIP that I don't even care to try, because Teamspeak is working the way it should and everyone including me is familiar with it. Changing to another VoIP like Mumble, just because it 'could' be easier or better somehow, is a waste of time and resources, because there are other more important things that needs my attention.

How big is the group you're using it for?

anything smaller than about 7 I like to use skype conference calls for. otherwise ventrillo I've never really used teamspeak or mumble.

Isn't there a lot of configuration for the user on TS than there is on Ventrilo? I have a ventrilo server running with 500 clients (running on NAI server). If you would like to use it, just let me know
