The Animal In You

A STABLE COMPANION
Horse personalities are those strong, capable people that breeze through life with envious ease, but a closer look at these free-spirited personalities finds surprisingly complicated individuals who are sensitive to criticism and hate being ignored. That's why no one should say anything behind the horse's back; its sense of hearing is fiercely acute and its temper carries quite a kick.

Friendly, sensible and ticklish, horses insist at taking charge of their lives, at least until a special someone comes along to whom they're happy to relinquish the reins. Then the horse suddenly becomes a supportive, broad-shouldered mate ready to go anywhere and support any burden for the good of the relationship. These are deliberate creatures who are always trying to anticipate life's obstacles and -- although capable of bounding over most challenges -- horses certainly aren't too proud to admit their shortcomings and take the easy route wherever possible.

HORSE PERSONALITIES LOVE THE OUTDOORS
The horse's strong physique is well maintained by physical activity, and their effervescent personalities exude personal charm and confidence. Sometimes, when others take advantage of their helpful spirit, horses react with predictable equine behavior by saddling up and running off without a word. Usually though, a long solitary walk lets them blow off steam until they can resume their good-natured demeanor.

Their social skills are at their best during twilight when they gather with friends to ruminate and discuss the events of the day, but long hikes and nature walks are their favorite pastimes. One of the defining characteristics of a horse personality is its enormous endurance, which is evident in their talent for long-distance running and capability for challenging physical work.

THE SPORTY HORSE
Horses enjoy all forms of activity ranging from dancing and swimming, to basketball and football, although they prefer team sports over solitary pursuits. Most horse are well-traveled and will usually insist on journeying in comfort.... rather than blazing new trails like fox and wildcat personalities, horses prefer the same type of tourist destinations like their fellow herbivores; the sheep and bison.

With their gregarious natures, these sturdy beasts generally rise to the top of their fields especially in sales and public relations positions, but -- due to a lack of aggression -- are not natural leaders. Horses prefer to slipstream a strong leader and control events from behind the scenes. If they are to be found in the political arena, it’ll usually be in a key advisory position and almost never as the person in the limelight.

HORSES IN THE WILD
No one is quite sure when the horse was first domesticated, but it is certain it was some time before 2000 B.C. The best horses have traditionally been reserved for nobility and are still considered a status symbol.

Wild horses live in large herds on lush plains where each herd is led by a stallion. As male colts reach maturity, they are driven to the edges of the herd by the dominant male.

The domestic horse has played an important role in the history of war; the mounted Spanish conquistadors were virtually unstoppable in their conquest of South America.

LOVE & FRIENDSHIP
Horses are serial monogamists and prefer quality over quantity in their partners. When it comes to lovemaking, foreplay is brief -- at best a bit of pawing or a nip on the neck – and although horses make love with great intensity, they prefer to get things over with rather quickly.

Horses are quite capable of amusing themselves and have no problem with remaining single until middle age. Although they have no compunction about truncating unsatisfactory relationships, horses hate to completely let go, and friendships with ex-lovers are carefully maintained.

Horses seek partners that can relate to their outdoor personalities and draw their mates from amongst their cloven hoofed cousins. Female horses go for the solidly built, beefy types, which is why the bison and elephant make for sensible if unexciting affairs. Male horses are drawn to the graceful and strong willed personalities like the sable and zebra.

Although horses are strong and capable in their public lives, they get a secret thrill in relinquishing their control and having their partner dominate them. Leather, saddles, carrots and sticks are all tools in the horse's private passion.

CELEBRITY HORSES
LEBRON JAMES

For obvious reasons, many NBA stars are giraffe personalities. So what makes LeBron James a horse? His effervescence, agreeability, and generosity on the court (and off).

TOM SELLECK

Tom_Selleck.jpg

Tom Selleck made his name playing the broad-shouldered, capable guy-next-door in TV shows and movies. It's generally agreed that his real-life personality matched the horse persona perfectly too.

PENGUIN CHARACTERISTICS: Witty • Meticulous • Intelligent • Dual-natured • Inscrutable • Self-conscious
SCIENTIFIC NAME: Aptenodytes patagonica
COLLECTIVE TERM: A colony of penguins

THE PENGUIN PERSONALITY
Now you see it, now you don't. Aggressive yet gentle, outgoing but shy, stable yet flighty - everyone sees the penguin in a different way. It's that black and white thing: the penguin only reveals the side that it wants to you to see. So whether you like this darling-devil or not, you have to concede that it's a fascinating and enigmatic individual.

Penguins are birds condemned to live out their days on the ground. Unable to fly, their excess energy has no outlet save their creative talents and emotional outbursts. Penguins are poetic, artistic, and intellectually gifted, and as writers penguins have no equal. But, if unable to channel their impulses in a positive way, the resulting turmoil proves damaging to their relationships and careers.

NEVER UNDERESTIMATE A PENGUIN
Penguins are deceptively intelligent and are particularly animated when intellectually challenged. They excel at word games and puzzles but are modest about their abilities and are generally underestimated by others.

With their misunderstood personality, penguins find writing an ideal tool for expressing their true feelings. They have a natural aptitude for languages and penguin personalities dominate the world of publishing as writers, editors, and journalists.

THE PENGUIN PERSONALITY'S CAREER
A strong sense of drama draws penguins to the theater and cinema, although unlike typical bird personalities they avoid the spotlight unless they're able to hide behind the characters they play. Once on stage however, they prove to be excellent performers with their multifaceted personalities conveying the full gamut of emotions.

However, in many cases a lack of confidence affects their work. Penguins tend to give up on tasks they were otherwise capable of and are frequently disappointed with their performance. Still, work never dominates their lives and they always put their family first.

PENGUINS IN THE WILD
Like all flightless birds, penguins reside only in the southern hemisphere, and having found a niche in the wild, frozen wasteland that is Antarctica, most penguin species move south in winter to breed in the extreme cold. Although conditions are harsh, penguins can form large breeding groups with minimal fear of predators, and they are supremely well adapted for this environment.

Surviving the Antarctic winter takes a great deal of cooperation from the penguins and they huddle together to conserve heat. As the penguins on the outside of the group begin to get cold, they are allowed by the others to move into the interior of the group to regain body heat.

LOVE & FRIENDSHIP
Since penguins have the coldest feet in the animal kingdom, it's no surprise that within its conflicted bosom there beats the warmest heart of all. Unfortunately, most of us will never experience this gentle compassion for the penguin rations it only to family and close friends.

Penguins mate for life and they make their commitments in black and white. Boredom is never an issue and it would never occur to them to look outside their marriage for stimulation. However, the flighty core of its bird personality struggles to maintain an even keel, challenging its partner's patience and endurance.

It takes a special person to flesh out the penguin's wonderful qualities and mammalian personalities like horses, moles and dogs simply do not have the tools to decipher its avian sensibilities. Neither is the penguin fully accepted by eagles, owls and roosters who look down their noses at their land-bound cousin.

True acceptance comes in the form of semi-aquatic mammals, and relationships with otters, walruses, and beavers are complete in many ways.

YOU ARE AN EAGLE

Screen Shot 2021-10-26 at 23.51.16.png Screen Shot 2021-10-26 at 23.58.01.png

EAGLE CHARACTERISTICS:
Attractive • Self-confident • Impatient

STRONG AND UNTAMABLE

There is an eagle in me that wants to soar, and there is a hippopotamus in me that wants to wallow in the mud". Carl Sandburg

Universally admired for its soaring spirit, the eagle has a striking presence that exudes a powerful sexual energy. As is typical of bird personalities, their high metabolisms make them edgy and unable to remain in one place for long. These fascinating creatures are natural explorers and nothing gets their juices flowing more than an exotic locale and their effervescence makes them appealing lovers. However, their obsession for freedom makes them difficult creatures to tame.

AN EAGLE IS UNMISTAKABLE

Sleek and well groomed, the eagle's looks are striking, even if they occasionally have minor aesthetic flaws (perhaps a bald spot or big nose), and they exude a strong sexual energy that turns heads. They enjoy most outdoor activities and have a particular affinity for extreme sports like sky diving, rock climbing, or bungee jumping.

THE EAGLE PERSONALITY ON THE JOB

Eagles do not adjust well to the confines of office work where they easily become unsettled and perform poorly, unless the work is creative and challenging.

Outdoor jobs are coveted, and eagles enjoy working in the hot sun as a construction worker, serving in a natural setting as a park ranger or piloting the friendly skies. The proverbial legal eagle, they also enjoy the creative freedom of litigation, police, and detective work. However, eagles do not adjust well to the confines of office work. When they find themselves in this kind of career they become unsettled and perform poorly, unless the work is creative and challenging.

THE EAGLE IS A BIRD AT HEART

Eagles are truly at their best when performing for others. Like the wild eagle whose aerial displays attract a large audience, they are in their element when singing, acting, or telling stories. But their enthusiasm for life comes at a price -- because even when their spirits are low -- they feel obliged to always seem upbeat.

EAGLES IN THE WILD

Perhaps from its use on the seal of the United States of America, the eagle has become the most familiar of birds. Most eagles are solitary and only come together in groups when prey is plentiful.

Eagles take a variety of small animals for food (Brazilian
Harpya eats monkeys and sloths) and are not averse to eating carrion, and a spectacular method of feeding is the eagle's habit of robbing ospreys. By constantly harrying an osprey carrying a captured fish, the eagle forces the bird to drop the fish, and sometimes they will even grab the fish from the osprey's talons while in mid-flight.

CAREERS & HOBBIES
Pilot • Park ranger • Legal work • Performing
Rock climbing • Extreme sports • Skiing • Flying

LOVE AND FRIENDSHIP

Eagles are quite comfortable with their own company, and prefer to first feather their nests -- by achieving a level of success in their personal lives -- before rushing into commitment. They relish the challenges that intimacy brings and, when they do tie the knot, their strong nesting instincts make them loyal and dedicated partners. Eagles are attracted mainly to independent mammal personalities like the fox, wolf, and wildcat, but they are not above trolling for companionship amongst smaller animal personalities: mice, snakes, shrews, and moles are particularly vulnerable to the eagle's lusty appetites.

Ultimately, the eagle's perfect match is the mountain goat with whom it shares a love for solitude and mountain top vistas. There is an instant connection with these enigmatic animals and the relationship is destined for great heights.

is this website animalinyou accurate?
No! It says I'm a penguin, which is probably a good fit, but it says penguins don't fly which is utter prejudice and nonsense - they do fly, but in water, not air. It's an incredible sight watching penguins flying in water, in the wild.

I am having a hard time understanding what exactly, I took testt 3 times. I got https://www.animalinyou.com/animals/snake/ I feel sorry for myself.. this week is really proving :disappointed:
btw.. I've never seen a flying penguin, but they do have wings at least. They can fly in air too, when they leap from ice into the water.
These quizzes are just a bit of fun, but really they are a load of bollocks and no more than that :D. It's best to be light-hearted about them. Whatever they say, you will find some things, good or bad, that you identify with, but that doesn't mean the whole description applies to you. The writeup doesn't even do snakes justice - these are some of the oldest species on earth, consumate survivors and many of them amazingly beautiful. The fact people have to be careful around some of them is just life - we have to be careful how we cross the road too.

LOL yes when penguins leap they can fly the other way too, from water onto ice, which looks almost supernatural. They are amazingly suited to where they live - I saw them in the Antarctic and they are wonderful creatures.

Mouse, lol.

MOUSE CHARACTERISTICS: Sensible • Nervous • Submissive
SCIENTIFIC NAME: Peromyscus maniculatus
COLLECTIVE TERM: A nest of mice

THE RETICENT MOUSE
Mice are amongst the most common personalities in society, and are found in prodigious numbers in in cities and suburbs. Living in close proximity to larger animal personalities, they thrive by utilizing the resources others consider insignificant, and because of their limited consumption, mice place very little stress on the environment. They are quiet, compliant people who disappear into their homes after work, and rarely draw attention to themselves.

Physically small and emotionally timid, mice personalities adopt a typically rodent pattern of self-reliance to survive. Their canny minds have long since learned that only free cheese is to be found in mousetraps, which is why they wouldn't dream of depending on others for support. This independence is quite understandable given the scant respect they receive from others.

MICE PERSONALITIES ARE THRIFTY
There can never be enough money in a mouse's bank account. Like their rodent cousins -- the packrats -- mice are manic about hoarding resources and planning for their future. If anyone were to look inside a mouse's garage they'd be struck by the mountains of old newspapers, boxes, and broken tools piled to the ceiling. These objects represent security and peace of mind for the mouse, and parting with them would be like separating from a lover. Consequently, they are often seen scurrying around swap meets and garage sales, eagerly adding to their collection.

Mice are unassuming and plain. As youngsters, they were endearingly cute, although later years their smallish features fail to mature with the rest of their body. As it ages, it'll probably evolve into a mousy haired elder going quietly about his or her business.

MICE ARE SKITTISH
Mice are uncomfortable when exposed in the open and this timidity forces them to keep a low profile. They enjoy the security of numbers, and are likely to join social organizations like the Rotary Club or the Chamber of Commerce to enhance acquisition of resources. Their work environments are always neat and well-organized, and they take care to ensure that things are always in their correct place. They are creatures of habit whose schedules and routines make them feel in control.

With their small personalities, mice find it difficult to compete in the business world. Consequently, they almost never own their own businesses, relying instead on the abilities of larger animal personalities to lead the way, and are content to function as cogs in the wheel of large corporations. Dependable workers, mice are often found as customer service representatives, factory workers, bank tellers and librarians.

MICE IN THE WILD
In the United States, the most commonly seen outdoor mouse is the deer mouse. These mice are nocturnal, making daylight appearances only when very hungry or under a cover of snow, which allows them to forage.

Even though they are a favorite on most predators' menus, mice still seem to thrive. With their high reproductive rates and ability to coexist with humans, their populations sometimes explode with incredible speed. A farmhouse in Australia was recently overrun by hundreds of thousands of mice feeding off a nearby grain field. Even the cats brought in to stem the tide were overwhelmed by the waves of mice and only poisoning specialists were able to bring the population back to normal.

CAREERS & HOBBIES
Customer service • Librarian • Shopkeeper • Bank teller
Shopping • Collecting • Board games • Gossiping

LOVE & FRIENDSHIP
Nothing unsettles a mouse more than when a bank statement doesn't balance or when someone takes the last piece of food from the refrigerator. They may pout in moody silence and refuse to listen to reason, yet all can be made instantly right if the offending party shows up with a gift of food. Or better yet, money! Resources are the way to a mouse's heart.

The beginning of a new relationship is a tentative and anxious time for a mouse. At the first hint of trouble it will vanish -- leaving its prospective suitor somewhat perplexed -- but if its basic needs are met, it proves to be a determined little lover. It's even willing to experiment in fantasy games provided it can take on the submissive role.

Mice are fastidious about personal hygiene and are generally in excellent health. They also expect their partners to put some effort into looking after themselves and can't stand sloppy dressers.

The mouse's ideal mate comes in the form of the sheep, cottontail and deer personalities whose gentle dispositions are perfect for long quiets nights of romance and stargazing. At all costs mice should avoid the razored talons of the owl and wildcat personalities, and they should resist the seductive siren call of its archenemy the snake.

FOX CHARACTERISTICS: Autonomous • Generous • Creative • Flirtatious • Procrastinating
SCIENTIFIC NAME: Vulpes vulpes
COLLECTIVE TERM: A skulk of foxes

THE ASTUTE FOX

The fox personality is very much a creature of the night and, along with its dog relatives, is among the most gregarious of the carnivores. These agile-minded personalities are always active and -- although they never go out of their way to harm others -- have developed an unfair reputation for slyness and manipulation. The female of the species is called a vixen for good reason: with a sharp mind and equally sharp tongue, it’s best to stay on her good side, especially since she’s like to rise to the top of her chosen field.
CHARMING CARNIVORES
Appealing, cerebral and of average size, the fox is a close relative of both the wolf and dog personalities and displays the typical canine qualities of loyalty, passion and creativity. Largely misunderstood to be a shy, retreating individual, it's the fox's stature as a small carnivore that defines its survival strategy. Because it cannot succeed using brute force alone, the fox must rely on its sharp mind and engaging personality to garner resources. Because it spends so much time in its head -- giving the impression that it's trying to outsmart everyone – the fox isn’t surprised that others find its intellectual pursuits quite intimidating (and often annoying).

Foxes are fussy eaters and, with an appreciation for the finer things in life, demand quality in entertainment, food, and friends. Their love of exploration dovetails with their passion for overcoming challenges, which is why foxes are often found mountain climbing or journeying to exotic, forbidden places.
FOXES CAN BE SUBTLE
Flamboyance is not the fox's style; it prefers to remain inconspicuous in a small, cozy house, which is usually organized and neat. Choosing subtlety and cunning over brute strength, they are unquestionably hunter personalities and are usually in good physical shape and perform well in pastimes that challenge both mind and body.

Foxes are typically successful in the workplace, but their competitiveness and ambition sometimes make coworkers feel belittled. While they would never deliberately take advantage of others, their single-mindedness often blinds them to the feelings of others. Foxes thrive when running their own businesses, but will usually seek a trusted partner in these ventures. Although they prefer consensus in partnership decisions, they usually dominate discussions and steer plans to reflect their own agenda. Competent in a wide range of fields, foxes are particularly well suited for a career as computer programmers, lawyers, doctors or politicians.
FOXES IN THE WILD
Foxes are closely related to dogs and jackals and comprise a number of distinct species; each with its unique range. Assessing the worldwide population of foxes is difficult as these animals mainly go about their business at night and are skilled at staying out of sight, although they sometimes fall prey to coyotes and wolves. Today its main enemy is man... and because of its tree-climbing habit, it is an easy animal to trap, although most species are not considered endangered. During the day, foxes rest in thick brush or in the hollows of tree. The fox is the only member of the canine family to routinely climb trees and often escapes danger by running up the trunk of a sturdy tree and navigating overhanging branches.

Foxes are not particularly fast runners, nor do they have the endurance for long chases... relying instead on their keen intelligence to make their living.
CAREERS & HOBBIES
Computer programmer • Lawyer • Doctor • Advertising
Chess • Gambling • Debating • Jeopardy
LOVE & FRIENDSHIP
As lovers, foxes are passionate and inventive, with their agile minds and bodies leading to exciting romps. Yet, because foxes are generally uncomfortable with the idea of emotional neediness, they rely on their partners to generate the romance and safe harbor.

Despite their roguish reputations, foxes are quite discerning in their choice of mates. They are particularly attracted to the creativity and gumption of eagles, zebras and wild dogs... creatures with which they are physically and temperamentally well -matched. Foxes should avoid wildcats and tigers, however, for while these aggressive carnivores provide immediate carnal gratification, their feline characteristics clash with the fox's canine essence.

Beneath its even-handed exterior is a deeply emotional core that the fox keeps well-guarded. Lovers quickly realize that the fox prefers nurturing to being nurtured, which is really just a fox ploy to avoid intimacy... a fox will never reveal its vulnerabilities unless it finds a mate who it intellectually respects, and emotionally trusts.
