The government works for the banks!

The following article is from a mainstream newspaper in the UK. It talks about changes the current conservative UK government are making to tax laws which allow banks to avoid paying taxes.

The next article describes how the biggest financial contributors to the conservative government are bankers:

As people allow the media to distract them with stories about events elsewhere or mindless television, how long will it be before the people wake up en masse to the fact that the bankers have taken all the public wealth with the help of the corrupt politicians leaving us all facing: recession, unemployment, higher taxes, later retirement ages, rising living costs, longer working hours, dissapearing pensions, home repossessions etc etc

While the media, which is owned by the corporate interests, demonises everyone from immigrants to muslims to UFO's how long will it be before people realise that their real enemy is the bankers who are impoverishing them and the politicians who are lying to them?

I think it's too scary for most people to think about...They don't want to admit that the people who have power to make decisions that affect their lives don't care about how much suffering they inflict on millions of people. They won't care until it actually happens to them.

Plus, the banks and governments have enormous power. It would take nothing short of revolution to break that alliance. It's a terrifying thought. Who'll be the first to put their head on the line and what happens after revolution?

To those of us who have a little brainpower and pay attention this is not news. Unfortunately it is to a lot of people. Denial plays a part, as does apathy. The banks and corporations now effectively run the first world governments. All you need to confirm this (besides having an avg. IQ of 100) is a computer and the desire to find the truth. Its all out there if you care to wade through the bullshit as the OP pointed out.

You need look no further than the Supreme Court ruling on campaign finance limits in the USA last year. They will hide behind the free speech ruling when it goes along with their agenda, but regular Americans free speech rights are violated and taken away every year. Did anyone see the hordes of cops at the democratic and republican conventions last elections? Not a lot of free speech going on there! People where too busy trying not to get their heads busted in! And you are right, nothing short of a revolution will change that and they will never let it get to that. I can't see where this will all lead other than to bad places.

Was watching that whilst reading this funnily enough...This shit makes me sick.

They effectively run every government. Trust me, everyone of us on this planet are enslaved.

Agreed 100%. My take on it all is that the third world countries are run by governments like the USA more directly than by the corporations. The corps don't have much of a presence in countries like Haiti, though I am sure the banks have their fingers in there. It's why we continue to give out billions in "humanitarian" aid to these countries, when we have people starving at home.

Humanitarian aid is a big scam to make it look like something is being done. Very little of the money is ever delivered and the strings attached accomplish two things, waste and the changing of laws to suit the donors.

Third world countries aren't run so differently from the First World. The governments ignore the citizens while putting on a show of responsiveness while giving multinationals huge tax breaks, overtaxing the citizens and turning a blind eye to banks profiteering and shipping the money abroad. Banking has gone totally out of control since the collapse of Lehman Bros.

Those same weapons are used in the 'drug war'. No effort is made to prevent them leaving US borders but third world countries are supposed to drain their resources preventing drugs entering N. American and European borders.

I am in complete agreement with all that has been stated here. Especially what Alien Spectator said:

Many years ago I was supporting an organisation called ReclaimDemocracy.org for they were all about trying to educate people that Corporations were NOT people - as in "We The People". I gave up following them because they seemed to have no voice and I ran out of money :ohwell:.

I have always tried to propose this idea to anyone I came across who might listen to me. Most of them could not grasp what I was trying to say. Because I had formed my own corporation to operate a business I had an inside view of the laws that protected a corporation from almost anything that an ordinary man on the street would be helpless against. Still - I could not get them to understand the concepts.

Corporations live FOREVER. Corporations have legal staff in perpetuity to drag out legal actions and appeal and appeal and so on. A mere human will die and a corporation will live on to fight another day. I was amazed at the rights granted to a business.

I visited the site today for the first time in years. Here's an interesting development:

A year ago today, the Supreme Court issued its bizarre Citizens United decision, allowing unlimited corporate spending in elections as a form of

The company is a person, General Accepted Accounting Principles. Basic high school accounting concept. We have that too. Which is why my family owns a company. You the individual has no power to resist taxation but a company has myriads of ways to right off and delay taxation legally and best of all no estate taxes.

Sorry no advice on how to get people to listen. As to effecting change good luck. As much as l like the idea of democracy I think it is most effective at dividing the people. Divided people can't change anything.

P.S.

I think more Egypts are coming. People here are starting to indicate a loss of patience. Protest isn't new for us. The last time it happened things got out of control and everyone lost their taste for it. Things changed only temporarily. It's a new generation now who knows what they'll do.

My ex used to tell me all the time that what a country needs is a Benevolent Dictator. Sometimes I think he's right.

Jeez. I don't know K-gal. Benevolent dictatorship is a nice idea. Actually a popular idea here but deep down no one believes in such a thing. "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." -- Lord Acton. It's probably good to flush out the government once in a while but what do you do about outside interference. Seems you always end up where you were in the beginning.

In the end, governments are made of people by people and for people. As such, they will always be prey to the worst of human attributes: greed, lust, jealousy... hatred. No matter how noble the idea, how sound the structure, how clever the concept, it will always become corrupt as long as people have these traits. To change to a truly enlightened form of governing, we must first ourselves become enlightened. Until such a time, and its still a long ways off, governments will rise and fall. And people will keep searching and wondering how we failed once again.

I agree Questingpoet.

Yet we cannot sit idly by and watch the greedy suck the life and joy out of the people can we? It appears we need to have food, shelter, clothing, safety, and the time so that we may pursue enlightenment.
Wait... No - I guess that doesn't make sense does it. If people would stop watching tv - they'd have time to wake up and look around them.:ohwell:

I'm afraid it's time for revolution. And I am NOT looking forward to that.

Vote Wyote for Benevolent Dictator!

Because he loves you, even though it's too hard to think for yourself.
