The Pitchforks Are Coming!

I’m curious to your opinion on the article being discussed…what say you?

I want to read it in more depth but I absolutely agree that capitalism converges on a sort of fuedalism, problem is most things appear to and the capitalists have won a propaganda war persuading everyone they are the anti-feudal alternative and best of all possible worlds.

I have respect for intuitive, long range thinkers such as Nick Hanauer. The problem is that these sort of people always want to move onto new projects and the ones who take over are short sighted and stupid. They only think about the immediate future and will screw over their customers without considering how it will affect their profits in the long term.

The video games industry is a prime example of this today. Many triple A companies were founded by intelligent, broad thinkers. They brought new and interesting concepts to the industry. They recreated genres and redefined what games can be. However the people now in charge of these companies don't care about new ideas and have homogenized the market. They also treat the consumer like mindless sheep who will continue to fall for the same tricks.

This type of attitude will, in all likelihood, lead to another crash in the video game market.

Capitalism can and does work, but people seem to forget that within that system there will always be winners and loser aka the rich and the poor.
I am fine with that, but only to a certain extent. Once you get past a certain level of inequality though, such as you see today, then it begins to break down, which is also happening now and IMO will continue to get worse.
For those at the top right now, it’s just an all out money grab…to see how much and how quickly they can gouge everyone before we either run out of money, or get smart to it and revolt via laws, protests, or even physical violence.
Unfortunately, I do foresee physical violence in the not to distant future…I think those calling the shots have already overstepped the boundary of where they should have pulled back. I see it in my own employment even…at the hospital where I work, I have seen incredible changes in the 5 years I have worked for this particular one…I have seen benefits slashed, how much I pay out of pocket for medical expenses go up, people being laid off while the administrators give each other bonuses.
Just last year, they laid off 500 hundred employees from my own hospital…supposedly so we could be financially in the black…these were low-level employees mostly, the housekeeping staff, etc. Then low and behold, the local newspaper reports that the top level administrators handed out bonuses to one another, some in the millions…and you just have to ask yourself - really? It’s not against the law…and everyone else is so worried about losing their own job that they just kept silent…even the union that represents the Nurses for the hospital said and did nothing.
Just a small portion of ONE of the bonuses could have paid the wages of quite a few people who were let go…and now, six months later…we are re-hiring many disintegrated positions because well, they cannot run the hospital properly.
There seems to not only be a worship of greed, but a lack of morality within the executive and administrative levels of many fields. I’m sure it was that cut-throat attitude or lack of emotion and empathy that got that person there in the first place…so now the question remains - how do we, the workers, regain some level of control over our employers once again…there used to be more of a balance? Otherwise, I see nothing but pain and suffering on everyone’s part…they will continue to take take take from their employees until there is a breaking point and subsequent revolt…not just at my work, but across the nation.
It almost seems like an impossible task, especially since our congress and votes are now firmly owned by those with the most money.
I would like to find a solution that doesn’t involve rioting and destruction…but the more I think and read about it, the less I feel that that can be avoided.
