Hello all,
I love to hear new albums and music, and as we are near the end of the year, I wondered what albums people thought was the best of 2010? I don't mean that as any kind of competition, I realise it's only a matter of personal choice/taste.

For me I thought Plan B's The Defamation of Strickland Banks was my favourite, but I'm interested to see what others think. It might be away for all of us to hear some good new tunes.

Merry Christmas all, and a happy New Year.

Katy Perry-Teenage Dream

It's very rare that I find an album that I like EVERY song on.

I love the spunky energy of the songs and the feel-good vibes.

Thanks for those replies, I've heard some of the Katy Perry album and liked it. I'll check out the others too, thanks for the suggestions. I thought there'd be more response to that question, but maybe I put it in the wrong forum or something. Oh well cest la vie..

Picking one album is really hard so I will likely post again with more, but I adore Mumford & Sons 'Sigh No More'. It's pure genius.

In the past I've constantly looked for new music, but this year I didn't really do that at all. I think I probably missed a lot of good albums, but the best ones I heard were:

Arcade Fire - Suburbs

Vampire Weekend - Contra

Laura Viers - July Flame

The Year of the Black Rainbow - Coheed and Cambria

You know it's true :D

For me it's a tie between
Lady Antebellum - Need You Now

Kita, I enjoyed The Suburbs too! Been a fan of those guys since their first album and this is their best... well, the first may have been but I played it SO much that I'm rather sick of hearing it.

I guess I'm at that age or something where I start listening to old music and hardly keep up with new stuff.

So the only new album I enjoyed was The Black Keys Brothers.

Age + personality.

I can't settle for any one thing. Old stuff gets old. I always need something new, and that goes beyond just music.

Thanks for the reassurance, that I am old, haha.

Well old stuff does get old too. My music taste isn't really mainstream to its hard to find something new I can enjoy.

Ever since the 80's I have tried really hard to forget that decade until lately, I have been listening to a lot of music from then :)

Thanks to everyone who posted, I've got a week off work and will check them all out. I've hears Mumford and Sons and like them, and on first listen I really liked Laura Veirs and Vampire weekend.

thanks again.

I really enjoyed 'Flags' by Brooke Fraser beginning to end. Other than that, I personally found this year to be pretty disappointing.

I would say iamamiwhoami NO contest what so ever. However, no "album" was released, just singles, so I can't use her.

Although this is by NO means second rate. Faithless released a new album in june called "The Dance" and it definitely takes the cake as the best album of 2010 for me :D. Here is an example track.
