What was the best album of 2010 ?

I definitely think that 2009 was a much better year for music...it was hard to come up with even a few great albums from this year. After a lot of thinking, here's my favorite song from each one:

Belle and Sebastian - Belle and Sebastian Write About Love

The National - High Violet

She & Him - Volume Two

Sufjan Stevens - The Age of Adz

Love Sufjan but can only take him in small doses. I did thoroughly enjoy Illinoise and Chicago.

Definitely agree...I have Sufjan moods and then maybe weeks will go by before I listen to him again. I really liked his newest album though. Chicago and A Sun Came are also favorites of mine. :)

Love The National (they've been on my repeat play list for months - Alligator through High Violet) and I love Sufi. Illinois rocked my socks. :D

Matt Berninger should be my husband. I'm surprised he isn't yet.

LCD Soundsystem - This Is Happening
Hot Chip - One Life Stand
Crystal Castles - II

Hot Chip was on my consider list. :)

In the end though, I chose Janelle Monae's ArchAndroid

Man, am I in the market for something like this!

+1 million! Man, tovlo, I think you just introduced me to my newest favorite artist. Dear Lord, her videos on Youtube were fantastic!

Gaga ain't got nothin' on her, I tell you what.

Loving the Laura Viers album

In the past I've constantly looked for new music, but this year I didn't really do that at all. I think I probably missed a lot of good albums, but the best ones I heard were:

Arcade Fire - Suburbs

YouTube - Arcade Fire - "Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)"

Vampire Weekend - Contra

YouTube - Vampire Weekend - 'Horchata'

YouTube - vampire weekend. I Think Ur a Contra

Laura Viers - July Flame

Hi Kita,
I'm loving the Laura Viers album you mentioned July Flame. I've heard it quite a few times through now and I'm not usually someone who takes to an album (or anything else) straight away. I really like this one though, so thank you for the recommendation.

Josh Groban - Illuminations

The album is powerful, and it demonstrates Josh's great vocal abilities. He is able to put appropriate emotion with each lyric. He can sing in a variety of languages almost as if each was his mother tongue.

Well this is the only new album I listened to completely last year. But I would have picked it anyway.
