[INFJ] Why does this site see such little traffic? Usually anything I say is forgotten :)

Do you want me to talk dirty to you? Standard deviation. Regression to the mean. Venn diagram. Probability matrix.

Now, if you can tell me how to make a stacked Gannt chart for multiple projects that are being simultaneously run, that factors in for potential stop gaps and does not use macros I may have to make you my data slave new best friend!

Not sure about that. But how would you like a vibrator with equations printed on it as a Christmas gift? Quadratic equation included.

So long as its not the one with Pi printed on it ... I don't think I could handle one that big :mpoke:

What exactly should the mods and members of this forum do differently to improve the quality of this forum? Do you really want a forum filled with tons of traffic and conversely far more trolls and idiots? Personally, I prefer quality to quantity when it comes to members. I am an advocate of free speech, but when a forum adopts an anything goes mentality it typically devolves into a cesspool of vitriol and inane banter. No forum is perfect, but how realistically could this one be improved upon? This is a good opportunity for constructive criticism and feedback. And I disagree with your point that all of the interesting members eventually leave for one reason or another. In my opinion, there are plenty of interesting members here, and some of them have been here for a while. If you want to be provocative or edgy or crass you need to be strategic about it. It seems to me the members who get banned are the ones who simply refused to be considerate of other members. Would this forum be better off with more blatant bigotry, nudity, porn, sexual harassment, ad hominems, trolling, spamming, or long winded, combative, tiresome paranoid delusional conspiracy theory rants which suck the energy out of the whole forum? There are ample places on the internet for all of that stuff. I just think that collectively the members and the mods of this forum would prefer that this forum remain a respite, a sanctuary even, from all of that other stuff. Why would INFJ forum be better served being more inclusive and less regulated? Most sites with that approach tend to suck as they are bombarded with people who don't actually care about the forum in question. In many ways I think the mods could be more permissive, but in others I think they could be more strict. And finally, remember this is INFJ forum. If this forum were to become excessively unruly, chaotic, and mean, it would cease to exist. All of the INFJs would flee. We don't mind some arguing, but constant conflict is not something we tend to tolerate well. Perhaps in certain ways this forum isn't as outrageous or unfiltered or even honest as it could conceivably be. When regulating a forum or site, there is always a cost benefit analysis. If there are to be lines at all, they must be drawn somewhere. This forum isn't, and in my opinion shouldn't, attempt to please everyone. I myself have challenged the policies and etiquette here. I now understand what is and is not deemed acceptable. If I ever feel restrained, I can leave for a forum or site with a different set of rules, or none whatsoever. I can explore the idiotic ramblings of the alt right (neo nazi) in its purest hate filled form, or I can post here. I do not personally feel this forum benefits from having those views expressed here. You typically can not change the minds of people who are deluded. It is just like a depressing and futile game of ping pong which never ends. So to conclude, I can not fully embrace any of the points you make above. And if you are displeased with this forum so, rather than passive aggressively baiting the mods, why not join a forum that is more to your liking? You are more than welcome to seek out and reconnect with @Sinny, @muir, @elegantwinter, @BrokenDaniel, or whoever else you miss. I would prefer to stay here and make dick jokes with the likes of @Jet, @Milktoast Bandit, @Free, @ruji, and @Anywhere But Here, all of whom are not "uninteresting" in my opinion at least. I mean Free has 7 cats. That shit is wack yo!
Why is there so little traffic on this forum was the question... not, 'how awesome are post/speech rules?'

Anyhow, if there's going to be a line in the sand, it must be about personal attacks against members imo. No one seems to recognise that labeling people is a personal attack.

Most of the 'interesting' members that have disappeared over the years have first been labeled variously, crazy-feminists, conservatives, sleazy, inappropriate, sexist, misogynistic, misandric, racist, elitist, ignorant, conspiracy theorists, delusionalists, etc, etc. AND often this labeling has been done by the members who are supposed to keep the place in order.

Quality over quantity works in respect of personal consumption (food, drink, friendships, etc.), but doesn't work in a diverse community setting, where a plurality of views and tastes exist. In a community, notions of 'something for everyone', 'more is better', 'cultutal/intellectual variety/diversity', etc., are important. On the last notion, promoting a diversity of views is NOT the same as insisting that everyone hold the same opinion about diversity of views.

I'm uninteresting? You want a dick pic? My penis is a fascinating wonder to behold. It is used as a model for dildos all over the world. It is known as the Dang Bang. More bang for your buck. Way more.

Yeah, I have Pi tattooed on my dick. They had to round off after 127 digits though. It's in the Guinness Book of World Records. There is even a glossy photo as proof. My math teachers are so proud of me.

We get it. You've reached the age of sexual maturity and are exploring the world of human reproduction. Hopefully in a few years your hormones will settle and you'll calm down.

Not taking sides here but I've alluded in my introduction thread that I was a former Mod of a forum I was a member of for 8 years. 9 if I stayed til Jan 017. So I just want to share an experience.

The weird thing about being a Mod was that I got to see people's '' antics '' Their '' edits '' and what not. So the words you used , passive aggressive , ring so true. It was a sports forum so there was a lot of language, sexism , abuse, and of course, naturally...Tribalism. Now remember iI was wading through that trite every day before I even knew I was an INFJ, I'm sure you could imagine how ....lonely ? maybe the wrong word, but there was a level of isolation that made me question my own views/standards.

You are right in what you say about people who don't care about forums. If only they knew how much time and money and commitment a place of this size and quality requires they'd maybe appreciate it more. At least that's what I always felt in my old place.

I always found it weird how the more vocal members who said '' It's an adult forum '' would have the hardest time behaving like one. People creating two accounts and then starting full on flame wars with each other simply to cause drama and conflict as well as division. People posting full on pornography and what not.

The final straw was when someone posted a video of a drunken man taking an actual dump in the middle of the road in broad daylight. Freespeech is another one that simply gets translated as '' free for all ''.

I could tell you stories about the biggest troll on the forum who would mock members with potentially fatal illnesses turning up on shall we say....let's just go with.. dodgy website. Or the user who got banned and returned under a different name and tried to guilt trip everyone by pretending to be a friend of the recently banned, and announcing his death.. ( which was due to someone cutting the break cables on his car apparently ) Or the guy who would constantly post about how wealthy he was and how he was posting from all sorts of exotic locations, and even saying he was in Milan or Madrid catching a game on the fly before returning home to his big mansion..He;d continually mock other members for their apparent lack of wealth, When his account information showed that he never left his own post code nevermind country.

It's amazing how much effort people will put into making a place chaotic and disorderly, but if they are asked to put in a bit of time and thought then it's '' oppressive ''

But like I say, this is just what I experienced in my 8 years in the other place. I'm very grateful for having found this forum and have been impressed with the hospitality shown by the members. But as for the lack of traffic, oddly enough it was one of my last conversations with my Admin team. I think all forums are losing traffic or levelling out at a low constant. So I don't see it as being a INFJs thing.. Plus with INFJ's seemingly making up only 1% of the world it was never likely to become a gobal sensation, numbers wise.

Anyways, I apologise for the rant and again , not taking sides but sometime the persepctive of someone who has only recently just came in from the outside is a decent indicator.

I think the members and the staff have done well and should be proud of their efforts.

In fact, here's a round of applause for ya'll from me.

But why is a member given a label? Isn't it in response to inappropriate behavior? Let's be concrete here. For example, Eventhorizon identifies as a conservative. He is constantly bashing liberals/liberalism/democratic politicians. He has also been combative and provocative on a regular basis. I find it annoying, but he has not blatantly crossed the line as of yet to my knowledge. And I don't think he has ever been punished by the mods. I don't think anyone is being persecuted for being conservative or for any other ideology. I think they tend to get banned for bad behavior which sprouts from their views. Was muir banned for his views (not appropriate reason for being banned), or for his behavior in spamming threads (appropriate reason for being banned)? I think the use of labels is simply shorthand for someone's views. But it is their actions, such as attacking members with different views, that ultimately does them in. I have not been here long, so I don't know everyone's history. So the real question is, why do members really get banned historically? Is it for their views, or for the way they interact on the forum? Because there is a big difference ethically between being banned for each of those scenarios obviously.

Yeah, at the age of 41 I just hit puberty. My pubes are sprouting like a chia pet.

I think the number of members that have been banned is miniscule, in comparison to the number of members that have been labeled, gotten fed up, and have drifted away.

Historically it is behavior, not ideology. Someone can be the most racist, sexist, -phobia person ever and they are given a long list of chances. Essentially when they start name calling or aggressively going after other members, clearly using trollish behavior in a causal context, that's why they are given like 7,000 warnings and eventually banned. Believe me I have reported people, usually when I do it is not for the content of their post but the way they directed it at a member. If anyone is perceived as personally attacking another member, generally that's why they get banned and often that is the only reason because INFJs will tolerate other points of views, they just won't tolerate member-bashing.
