DLs are withdrawn and ascetic. Gandhi had to gain English trust. Are they Authoritarian now? How did you score?Annoys me how people like the Dalai Lama and Ghandi are stuck on the liberal left, when the former is not interested in politics at all but is the supreme leader and the latter held some quite racist views in South Africa.
Being withdrawn and ascetic are not attributes of the left - infact they're not attributes of politics in general so the Dalai Lama shouldn't really be used as an example on the graph at all. However the element of being 'the chosen one' of a people certainly has an authoritarian streak.DLs are withdrawn and ascetic. Gandhi had to gain English trust. Are they Authoritarian now? DLs' 'power' is mostly symbolic, they don't get to live in much better conditions than the other people = economic left. They also tend to be very tolerant, much more tolerant than the pope = individual libertarians. Gandhi did wrote like English racist in his youth only, and has spoken later about worldwide equality. His work posthumously helped Nelson Mandela to free South Africa, and Gandhi is now again given full respect there:Being withdrawn and ascetic are not attributes of the left - infact they're not attributes of politics in general so the Dalai Lama shouldn't really be used as an example on the graph at all. And I fail to see how bad mouthing black African 'apes' in local newspapers of south Africa in an effort to woo the British justifies Ghandi as being placed on the left.
this is probably the 5th time i've seen this specific test, and all 5 times, the vast majority of people test bottom-left
