I don't see how anyone could really rank undergraduate psychology programs, or if they did, I am curious to see what criteria they use. What matters more would be psychology Ph.D. programs, which are a whole different monster from undergraduate study. They might be 3rd ranked for Ph.D.s, which would not surprise me, but I don't know. I don't know anything about colleges in Chicago, but I also don't see the point in trying very hard to get into an elite school, especially if it is difficult for you to pay.
I mean, what are you planning on doing? Do you want to become a licensed social worker and do therapy? Because I don't think you would need to go to an elite school to do that. Elite schools help with things, but again it is the cost issue. If it is going to be a hassle, it might be easier to try and go a less difficult route that will take you to the same place.
The exception, of course, is if you're trying to get into an elite graduate program.
