Europeans do take racing seriously, but it has a lot to do with the age of the tracks. They have been around a lot longer than the US tracks. So the grass is a lot more resilient. Ours is puny by comparison!
Lol I have to say my favorite race (right now) is the Arc de Triomphe, over in Europe. It's a beautiful race. The turf courses here are nowhere near as plush and resilient as the European counterparts. Sigh.
