A bit stressed at the moment, really. Exams at the moment. But I've had three, and have three left, so the halfway point is pretty nice.

literature said it gave 90% to a related compound. Soooomehow I think it's lying. The alcohol turned BLACK as soon as it hit the P2O5/silica gel media.
Search a youtube video of "the dehydration of sucrose with H2SO4" it looked prettty much like that, except a bit more liquid-y, and it gave off a lot of red NO2 gas. It was VERY messy to clean up, and it gave a 0.5% yield, lolz. I am redoing the reaction (after I make the alcohol) with PCC oxidation instead.

No, I don't have any particular plans. I think I am spending Thanksgiving with the parents and my sister and niece/nephews. Something low key. I loooove low key.
