That puzzles me because why would you just expect a wildlife documentary? If it's in the cinema, if it's being released theatrically, then it is obviously going to be a story and emphasise the human elements. Also, it's Werner Herzog movie one of the leading directors in the German new wave in the 70's and 80's along with Fassbinder and Wenders. He is a heavily in convicted in the human spirit and makes films about extremely single minded, out-there characters. Just look at his tumultuous working relationship with the actor Klaus Kinski and the films they made together!
I feared that it would just be a documentary, but knowing Herzog, I think it was a extremely well edited. Let's face it, this was made in the edit because most of the footage was already shot (On a Sony VX-2000 no less), giving this to any other film maker would have drastically changed it- or worse become TV documentary :shocked:
