Hrm, because if one is thinking in terms of prospective partners or friends, in some cases, they will be more inclined to go for the quiet, humble person, who will most likely be intelligent, less socially demanding, less easy to upset, and only interested in meaningful, long term relationships, as oppossed to a hyper extroverted talk-a-lot, who might be more inclined to be promiscuous, less interested in a long term relationship, might be easily offended and frequently invade personal space and for whom communication is less of an issue.
Of course, these are just generalisations that happen to be true in many cases.
It depends what you want really. If you like easy people, an extrovert is always the one to go for, but for people like me that have great difficulty communicating, there is some security in a retracted, humble person.
