It's not cliche. It's a matter of looking at yourself and recognize what your strengths are and what your weaknesses are. It's a matter of learning those weaknesses inside and out and why they're there and why they haven't been improved. It's about understanding your goals and desires and really examining what prevents you from achieving those things and trying to remove roadblocks that block your success. To me that's not a cliche thing, it's literally becoming your own best version of yourself and you may find that as you become conscious of that and continue to actively improve that your desire to be like what someone else projects externally becomes less and less.
