I dunno about that...If a kid has enough common sense to plan a shooting spree, he has brains enough to know better.

A lot of the time these people kill themselves before they can even be apprehended. Many of them are already willing to die.How many people are getting killed by Class III guns? None. ATF knows who has them. The military and police don't use bump stocks. Buy a stamp for one and register the gun as a Class III weapon.
If a kid has enough common sense to plan a shooting spree, he has brains enough to know better. I think a swift death to those who would do such things would DETER it from happening. We cannot stop vans running over people. They drop things in prisons with drones now. I shot an arrow in the air...Putting people like this kid on TV and listening to all the anti-gun talk isn't doing the job. Capital punishment for these sort of people swiftly is the answer, but people don't want to stomach it. This kid should die in less than a couple of days after committing such an atrocity. Others will think twice. Wouldn't have all these copy cats in my world.
Wouldnt it be nice if they started with themselves?A lot of the time these people kill themselves before they can even be apprehended. Many of them are already willing to die.

I agree with this post immensely. The law abiding population should have access to at least. AT LEAST the same weaponry the police force does. Im willing to say maybe not the military.
Lots do, but we never hear about those ones.Wouldnt it be nice if they started with themselves?
Are you basing this on countries like Switzerland, where military service is mandatory and people are issued guns which they keep in their home and the homicide rate is still one of the lowest? Because the US is almost nothing like Switzerland. Mental health providers also report those deemed dangerous and those individuals are in a database and barred from owning guns. (The US continues to resist this sort of oversight.)@acd
Suppose all mentally-stable American adults had firearms training and were regularly armed. Why is this not ideal?

I think there is a cultural element to gun violence in the US.
Again, why I mentioned above that the CDC should be able to study gun violence in the US without the NRA and the right making it political.
Which country is this?I live in a third world country...there's not been one school shooting...ever. Our police and Military carry guns. That's it. It is due to the simple fact around here that if you engage in violence (citizens amongst themselves) you will have your ass handed to you and if arrested thrown in some pit for a prison that few have ever heard of, if you're lucky enough to get out, you'll have 27 new diseases. What has also played a very big role...we're a mostly hunting and tourism based country. Children are all taught to shoot from a very young age but boy, if you so much as point even an unloaded gun in any wrong direction, you get a slap on the back of the head and a preaching to for four straight hours. We are also educated on what it means to take a life of a living creature, it is imprinted that whatever life you take, even a hare, has a role to play and you might have just killed her entire litter if it was a female you shot...which is why no hunter or farmer here shoots any female animal for whatever reason. It is an unspoken rule. We are also raised not to bitch and moan about every damned thing and handle stress in a way that is morally acceptable. Our entire country in about 2 million people, so it is quite easy to hold to these standards.
My point is, if one is taught the correct responsibilities, fire arms are not a problem in the least, yes, a twisted mind can do a lot of damage, but education and a true sense of the implications and guilt of taking a life, which would mean nothing to a psychopath, is how the children are raised here.
