ok. so you have been talking back to people who are talking about abstaining from sexual intercourse, as though they are talking about abstaining from sexual release, because you are confused about language? i think i get it now.

I've done it before and it drove me crazy. I couldn't do it again. I need sex in my life.

"Where art thou?" Means "Why are you-"
In Romeo and Juliet she is asking why his name is Romeo because if he were from any other name they could be together.
Don't quote stupid people.

Unless he means god is asking him why he's a bastard.

What I really want is for someone to stick their elbow into these muscles beneath my left shoulder blade. The muscles intermittently provide me with this kind of freezing cold shock that radiates throughout my awareness. I have been to a masseuse, different ones, many times. They do wonders for the rest of my back, but the real problem is these muscles under my left shoulder blade. I don't need sex, I just need someone who will regularly pulverize these muscles that are giving me so much trouble.

A long time partnering invites accidental celibacy, with each party intermittently begging for a muscle pulverizing in exchange for things like taking the trash out or walking the dogs. Married life is exciting that way. It's true, eventually all one wants literally is to have the kinks worked out.

I don't believe that's accurate. In R & J, Juliet says, "wherefore art thou Romeo..." Not 'where art thou'.
Wherefore means why, therefore, Juliet is asking 'why are you'.
But, justme quoted "where art thou" which means 'where are you'.

Am I sad about it? Hmm. It's not that I'm not a sexual person, it's more just that I have found myself in this situation. There are some inconveniences I associate with sex (example: health checkups) and weighing all those up there's just not enough reason to do it. If I met someone really exciting and interesting, then why not? I have got enough interest in the past from very nice handsome guys to know that it could happen. Without that level of genuine interest it seems a bit stagey and boring, like a porn film. I don't need that.

I find when I separate intimacy from sex in my mind, it seems less like I need either. I don't know why, but when combined together those things kind of amass this sense of importance to themselves that is a little bit out of control.

Not having sex you mean? No, that's not it. Health things sometimes prevent people from wanting to engage in or being able to enjoy sex. Chronic pain and hormonal changes due to age have made it difficult for me. That's not very uncommon.
 
Celibacy is usually linked to the idea that we have an incorporeal soul that strives for perfection and/or union with The One. While sex may be an expression of pure Love, pure love is not sexual love. Exclusively sexual love can impede the realization that there are higher forms of love and if you want to know those forms, celibacy can be incredibly useful.

Due to my wife's lower sex drive and health issues I have learned to be content with brief periods of celibacy. We probably have sex 20 times a year at most. One year I remember it was less than ten times. I really don't understand my fellow brothers who demand sex from their wife every night, heck even for me 3 times a week would be excessive. I used to have such expectations and demands, but they were unrealistic and only brought disappointment, resentment, and an unhealthy state of mind. Our relationship has worked this long because of compromises grounded in love for one another.
