I can't shake the feeling that this whole primary race is some kind of staged spectacle. None of the candidates seem real; they're more like caricatures in some twisted political allegory. The conservative candidate is an evil, politically-incorrect and socially backward motormouth nut that wants to shut down borders and get on back to the ol' glory days. The middle-of-the-road liberal candidate is a wishy-washy, flippity-floppity classic politician that we all are used to and who has mastered the art of smiling and talking from both sides of her mouth. Meanwhile, the far left socialist candidate is portrayed as the only calm and non-dramatic voice with a plan, to who. birds flock to in a manner a Disney princess would envy and, as far as the media and liberal arts majors are concerned, can do no wrong and probably poops rainbows.
Like... Really? No one finds this strange? No one thinks this a little weird? Not even a little bit? Do you actually believe this just happens to be the way the deck was dealt and these candidates are the best and brightest that this country has to offer?
The cynic in me always wonders what the media is up to and takes a careful look at who it tries extra hard to villify vs. what it exalts and I ask myself why. Especially when it feels less like I'm being reported to and more like I'm being led to make up my mind about something.
I don't know about the rest of you, but tis election doesn't inspire much of my confidence in the idea of giving the government a bigger role than it already has, especially the way some people are talking these days.
