It's healthy to ruin your perspective and rebuild it. Like this one time, I watched "The Matrix"... just kidding.

People go through tough shit all the time and it changes them. Unlearning is an integral part of the learning process called life.
 
I think unlearning is equally unhealthy. It sucks that people have to experience tough times, horrific incidents, pure evil....but we can't change the bad shit unfortunately. I'd prefer to take the bad shit, learn something from it and because smarter as a result. It's not that easy obviously, but once you're aware there's no point in pretending it didn't happen. You can push it away, but unless you deal with it or learn from it, it's always going to simmer there just waiting to come back and bite you on the ass.
