Do we really seek purpose?

I don't think we search for meaning or purpose in and of itself. I think we struggle to adequately convey the meaning and purpose we have found (or not found). We yearn to be heard and understood and think that if we have the perfect answers to life's questions, we can magically make the "other" see our unique selves.
