enforced sterilization

i don't agree with it as a method of population control, but i have no problem with sterilizing the stupid.
 
Education is the only proven solution to control population.


Give people more choices about how to live-- and they see there is more to life than baby making.

Can you imagine the advancements humanity could make if everyone was given a shot to achieve their potential?
I bet that if quality education were a priority--people would naturally cultivate a more sustainable society through their advancements.
Instead, we live in a short-sighted world, we don't really believe in advancing for planning for the future--it's all about consuming right now.


You cannot improve something by enforcing a negative action.. To improve something, you must promote--not oppress.
There was a time in the US when forced sterilization was a reality. Those with disabilities, convicts, and impoverished minorities underwent compulsory sterilization.
We need to advance as a species, not revert.
You want population to level out--advocate for education and equal rights for all.

I don't know much else about this guy, but I have to say I'm disappointed. This idea sounds like something you'd hear out of some "edgy", "misunderstood", "genius" high school kid, not the "smartest man in the world".

I watched an interview with him a long time ago and I think he said that he was brutally physically abused by his step father when he was a child. I know someone a lot like him. In grade school he was tested at an IQ above 150, but he hates humanity because of the things that happened to him as a child.
 
Just breed til everyone dies off. Let another bacteria evolve to become the next bunch of smart guys. The human race and everything else on earth doesn't have to continue.
 
Just distribute laptops to all the males in society. Then have them chat on the INFJ forum while their balls get cooked. (That's what I'm doing right now)

I think the dude is pretty smart. His idea about population control are pretty extreme though, maybe we should try education and condoms first and see how that works.

I am calm, the "Why?" was me explaining why I was against "sterilizing the stupid", which I should have been more clear about.

I'm sorry if you felt I was attacking you, but "sterilizing the stupid" is actually an argument that too many people try to legitimately advocate. Maybe I've been on Reddit too much.

regarding ableism - stupidity is not a disability, it's a choice.
it knows no class, no race, no gender or age group for that matter. that is why your statement seemed like this to me

OP, maybe instead of asking if children should be sterilized, you should ask yourself why you shouldn't be sterilized.

I'm also confused why exactly you wouldn't listen to the bitter teenagers who almost always propose the same ideas when they're going through one of their emo phases, while this guy's opinion is definitely worth considering.

I could understand withdrawing aid or letting nature run its course for certain medical issues... but the idea of sterilizing perfectly healthy children is pretty terrifying.

Just wanted to add that since it's obvious that anyone who would agree with such an idea is incurably depressed and an overall miserable person, they should probably be sterilized so that we can prevent the human race from turning into a bunch of whiny, depressed, pissed-off losers.

A lot of people make assumptions that have their roots all the way back in Malthus. A good book on the subject is Mark Sagoff's The Economy of The Earth. He puts in bluntly: "Conceivably, if everyone had the money to pay for food at current prices,the world could produce enough beef and donuts to fatten everyone for the slaughter of diabetes, cirrhosis, and heart disease".

Basically, the world population will probably peak during this century between 10 and 11 billion and then decline. We already produce enough to feed everyone- the problem is that most people cannot afford adequate food. The book goes into this and other aspects of this in detail, and there are other books on the subject. I just like this one. Raj Patel is also a good author in this area.

You're assuming the kind of people who say this kind of a thing with a straight face know or care about the difference.

And I mean, if we're going off of stupid, how exactly do we categorize that? By IQ? Well then intellectual disabilities would be getting the shaft, wouldn't they? Ableism. Is it by our actions? How would you decide that? Would there be a group of "Derp Police" monitoring all our actions, and if we get three or more "Derp Demerits" the Derp Police report us to a "Council of Derp" who then review our case and vote either for or against our favor, and if they vote against our favor then the Derp Police take us to the nearest, approved hospital where your reproductive organs get to make the acquaintance of Nurse Ratchet's trusty scissors?

(thanks but i'll take a pass on the popcorn. just had a lot of dental work done...)

anyway, the saying goes 'stupid is as stupid does' which i take to mean it is determined by one's actions.
people who habitually do stupid things are stupid regardless of their iq
 
Interesting suggestion but I have a far better idea. We choose a portion of the population to be culled and then turn them into food for the hungry and poor. It solves both over population and world hunger two birds with one stone.

Free world of warcraft accounts for all, and unlimited free internet porn. This will ensure vast segments of people in their reproductive primes never have sex and remain virgins well into their 20s. 30s maybe. ;) Population control, done. (J/K)
