I had a tiny bee stuck in my apartment the other day. I'm quite scared of flying yellow stripey insects that can sting. But bees are important pollinators, so I left the window open for hours till it finally flew out.

(Had it been a wasp, it would have been a different story. I vacuum those on sight.)

(Had it been a wasp, it would have been a different story. I vacuum those on sight.)

Years ago, I was staying in a cabin in The Badlands, and at some point there was a massive wasp in the cabin. When I say massive, as it flew across the ceiling, the legs seemed to hang down 4 cm from the body.

I had a mixture of fear and absolutely rapt wonderment at seeing it, because I was soon to peak from the 750µg of lysergic acid diethylamide I had ingested some time earlier.

It was beautiful, in its way, and there was no relaxing until it crawled between two wall boards, and was gone.

27 years, or half my life, ago,
Ian
