Read a paper.
It said people have cognitive tilts.
The faster your processing speed the more you tilt either to tech stuff or academic (math verbal) stuff.
Doctors have more ability to do fast physical movements with their hands.
The paper said something about the advantages of such tech tilts for making more money in your 20s if you were mechanical.
Then again it also said you make more in your 40s if academic. Tech stops correlating for older people.
They measured this for people born in the 1970s and 1997 cohorts - this changed when you made the money so the predictions also changed.
That be because of the economy changes? Middle management and 2008 crash?
I do not know because I skimmed it as it had too much verbiage. Could not find revenant conclusions.
But people do tilt in cognition.
College did not help me at all because I failed to graduate. I did not get any tech job either because I wasn't aware of any. This was 2007
I found out that a rural / urban divide exists. That a brain drain effect happened over the past 15 years to the cities.
If you cannot memorize fast at reading then you do not get high up academically. (I am never going to get a coding job)
Some sonic the hedgehog game has a theme song with the lyrics: "trust me and we will escape from the city", they don't live on earth but in a future civilization.
I was not that into sonic but I remember it has an elaborated world with a big mythos, very scifi. My brother knows more than me.
Anyway that is a tangent.
And so is this:
The more people in the city the more the divide widens.
This one person thought we could get all the conservative to space on elons rockets but that defeat the purpose of why conservatives exist which is to manufacture things in the countryside. You do not have oil on the moon or people that can buy products like on earth. He got really angry at me telling him this. His magical thinking turned me into the enemy some reason? The city cannot exist without some amount of resources and you cannot just send people to space not qualified. It was a real mess talking to him on what was practical.
The fact is that politics no longer is about policy disagreements but personality and cognitive differences.
Bill clinton said "it's the economy stupid". But the economy is driven by what people do cognitively with resources.
15 years is a long time but it is enough to separate people (those tilts got exacerbated because of it)
Tomorrow I think I meet the job coach, she was not that clear on the phone about what I was supposed to do.
