I've got two on my list although it's a hard choice because things are sad for different reasons. The two on the top of my list are:

Chet Baker baker's version of - You don't know what love is

Allison Crowe's version of - Hallelujah

What are yours?

predictable but so true...

"Little Girl Blue" (1956 version) by Nina Simone. She brilliantly made her own arrangement of it using "Good King Wenceslas" (of all things!) as the backdrop for the melody. Genius. And she sings it so evocatively and sensitively. It's one sad tune. I love it! I love her, period.

I tear up everytime I hear this song, it reminds me of my brother's last few moments of life.

This song I associate with a lot of hard times I've had, it is/was my go-to song when I was feeling crappy.

Both of these songs I wanted to play at my brother's funeral but it was all thrown together so quickly that I didn't really have a chance to get it all together.

Watching the special features explains why this song is so sad. I love Annie Lennox's voice.

Ah yes, also known as Birthday massacre :)

Blue is my favorite song.

I'd say mine is Secret. (but possibly also Pale and Pins and Needles...)

Even if I listened to this song without its lyrics, it'd probably be one of the saddest I've heard. If I'm listening to my music on my playlist on "random shuffle" and I'm in the middle of an activity, this will usually still me into silence.

And although it doesn't have lyrics, this song is another sad one.

"I Hope Your Heart Runs Empty" by Neverending White Lights is another.

"Ethereal" by Amethystium, once again without lyrics. This one, I find, leads me to reminisce, and therefore connects me with "sadness" not in the present, but in the past.
