Should one be proud of who he or she is?

Gray area. It's a matter of perspective. Pride in oneself can be good and it can be bad. It all depends in the level.
 
I am neither proud nor ashamed of who I am. I accept who I am and this is enough for me.

Pride is the ninth circle of Dante's Inferno and the seventh of the seven deadly sins. Context changes the meaning but for many I think pride compensates for shame.
