But then we have decades of Christopher Tolkien’s publications of his father’s world-building to draw upon, so that’s looking back with a hindsight that wasn’t available in those days.

Quite a stark contrast between Tolkien’s conceptual thinking and the concrete thinking of the interviewer, who just did not seem to understand much of what Tolkien said.
